... Quite interesting history in this picture. Painter was born in the middle of Austria, but moved to its border to Graz, and made this pic of Slovenian family in time of Carinthian plebiscite, probably to encourage them to vote for staying in new Austria state, then already with close ties to Wiemar Germany. She was wrong about "eternally" too, but nice pic.
Hmm, yes you seem to be right. It is a bit outdated use of the word, but for the time period of that drawing it would fit. Your translation is a bit loose, but gets the message across.
