.....if one is not learning something every day then one is less intelligent than one who is.
After 12 hrs on the road I pulled into Hooker Oklahoma in Texas county. I bailed out of Springer NM at 6.30am MT on hwy412 and headed East. Beautiful morning, bike is running better than a Von Braun turbine, it's a comfortable 72°, not a cloud in the sky, and most of all, I made it through the night without any scorpion encounters, seriously, the motel room next to mine had an issue with scorpions in the room...and I fucking hate scorpions.
About an hour down 412 the temperature is pushing 90° and it's only 8.30am. Beyond the Canadian river a few miles I'm heading uphill at maybe 3° cutting through a pass with an outcropping of rock both sides of the highway. I get through that pass and the temperature drops to 49°, black cloud everywhere, rain that felt like hail and then a blast of wind that picked the front of my Decker off the ground leaving me with no steering at a cruising speed of 80mph....the next 150ft of hwy was one of the most memorable stretches of road that I've ever
traveled. 5 minutes later and goosebumps on my eyelids the temperature's at 90° and it's a beautiful day, again.
When I pulled into Dalhart that afternoon the temperature was 102°, and on I go. By 8.00pm I'm in Hooker Oklahoma and bedding down at the "Hooker Inn" on hwy64.
After getting settled and showered I'm sitting outside and a guy comes out of his room and goes to the tool box in the back of his company truck, the company being a drill rig contractor from Pennsylvania...now he's got my interest.
This guy had the appearance of a hard working Roughneck who, after a 12 - 14hr shift, goes home to his farm where the real work never ends. He compliments my bike and that led to one of the most educational lessons in my life.
Turns out the guy's a geologist and he manages 26 rigs. First off he gets into a bitch fit because he can't find any "White American boys" to work the rigs...he told me that most everybody on his rigs are spics and working for cash, and sometimes up to 2K weekly, he told me that the company has advertised through a half dozen states and there was no interest. This was Aug 2015 and America's useless pet nigger, obama, was in the final stages of his disastrous occupation of the White House and he didn't give a fuck about the ills that America was suffering...inflicted by (((those))) who really control America. Meth and oxycontin had taken it's toll on the White working class and there was no shortage of supply....and the scourge was everywhere.
This guy was genuinely pissed at the state of decay that America was in, he was pissed that he had no choice but to hire illegals and pay them cash...but...in the end it wasn't his company and the decisions were made in PA.
The second thing I learned in my conversation with that guy was about something that I knew nothing about, the "New Madrid" fault line, of which I got an education on.
He told me that back in 1811-1812, there was an earthquake on the fault line that was so powerful that it caused church bells to ring as far away as Boston and Quebec City....it even reversed the flow of the Mississippi River causing it to dump into Lake Superior.
Jumping ahead into the conversation here he tells me that if that geological event repeats itself today where the Mississippi reverses into Lake Superior it will flood the lake with tons of chemicals from the plants and refineries along the way. AND HE'S RIGHT. I was totally oblivious to the New Madrid fault line but according to this "expert", and he was an expert, this fault line is a serious one that could theoretically split the North American continent in half.
That day I got an education in HOOKER.
