I have read many religious texts, including the bible. They are all full of contradictions, omissions, and absurdities. Trying to reconcile stories spread by word of mouth with any reality is pointless. This is not an attack on any faith, it is just the truth.
I have heard many attempts at trying to defend the bible from any critical scrutiny. The writers were "inspired". Don't question the "word of god".
