I tried to explain how this worked to other folks that don't leave their basement to see shows with crowds.
They stayed as fucking dumb as they were.
Your feet leave the ground. Your arms are pressed on your sides on all sides...you can't move. If you try to go under...you die trampled. If you cannot serve your way out of the crush the only way left is climbing over people which is also pretty deadly.
This sneaks up on you while you are enjoying the show, nobody trains you how to be aware of this you learn the hard way usually. I was in that guys situation but multiple elbows and proper stance followed by tossing people out my way allowed escape at a Metallica concert crushing the same way. This guy had no escape. It was too far gone and he was too weak.
