IT'S COON TIME...

submitted by Zyklonbeekeeper to HDLunited 2.6 yearsOct 15, 2022 17:01:34 ago (+14/-0)     (HDLunited)

...and I'm in a "coon rich" area.

Not too often do the words "rich" and "coon" mesh well together but when combined with a backyard shooting blind and a .22 caliber of personal choice ie .22 short, LR, magnum, 22-250 or .223, one can be the "calibrated" gentry that one knows he is...even if one requires glasses to shoot.

I decided to take up position early today given the mixed bag of weather. With it being a mostly rainy day with few sunny breaks and daylight dwindling earlier every day raccoons start to roam into my area around about an hour before dark. It isn't uncommon to have them in the cross hairs earlier though given their scrambling for as many year end feasts as possible.

As of this posting I'm in position armed with a bolt action .22 Marlin loaded with CCI shorts, very quiet and lethal within 100ft, last night at just before dark (19.00hrs) I popped off two coons at 110ft, both rnds were planted between right side neck and shoulder with angle of trajectory upwards at about 3°...I took out the 1st one as it sat motionless surveying the area and while it chimped out on it's nerves his buddy had to investigate as to what the commotion was and I nailed it while it was on the move...that fucker screeched and rolled like a drunken jew in public shower stall after hearing the word gas mentioned by a White guy.

Well that's about all I wanted to share with everyone right now, my bears are really lethargic and aren't as fun this time of the year because they're getting ready to crash for the winter, I can't get them to do anything so I made it clear to them that I'm going to be shooting coons this evening and they'll have to wait for their treats of honey and Nutella, they didn't seem to have a problem with that as was obvious in the way they never even lifted their heads from the horizontal position.

I like coon hunting.
