Won't matter if the idiot hordes aren't even ready to question. Idiot hordes just agree with the TV...so a physical conflict will be portrayed as the holohoax and January 6 all into one. Idiot hordes will double down and make "a rebellion" or "insurrection" even "less popular".
If there's any way to keep the dumbass hordes contained while your scenario plays out, TPTB can't hide behind as many meat shields.
Generally surprised nobody has gone the Fight Club route honestly. Taking out the banks would be a splendid distraction while other activities happen.
