Uber or Didi (though it is not considered legal way of transportation, most use it), Taxi cabs (red cars with yellow triangles on them) -some are good some are bad and, some are really bad - public buses, same as cabs, in the central valley there is also the train but it is a pos. It works, but I have only used it twice.
Personally wife and I use mostly uber. With the exception of when we go out of the central valley, we use buses that go from their respective bus stations. That said, with the baby, we are not planning to go to the beach without having a car. House comes first though, so it is going to be a while.
