An atheist will reason that women should be considered equal
It's an issue of motivated reasoning, not cosmological underpinnings. All the people in my life who tell me to "respect women more" are Christians. Like 99% of Christians, they think they can assess which of God's laws are timeless and which ones can be safely ignored.
If Christians really cared about the Bible and were expected to behave according to its laws, most Christians would have left the church already. They're apostles of the status quo, they do not pursue righteousness, they do not pursue a timeless Christian culture, they simply serve the interests of the ruling class, because that's what Christian philosophy was designed for: to create willing slaves.
