The prosecutor wasn't expecting to get called on his bad faith acts.
I don't think he was surprised by it. He's playing for the libshit media. If he gets a mistrial instead of an acquittal, he can blame it on the judge. If he ends up fired for prosecutorial misconduct, he'll get a soft-landing job as a talking head on CNN or something, or a cushy book deal, just like the fuckheads that came before him (Comey, Clapper, etc). He's down with the cause, and is willing to sacrifice his career and integrity.
