A line that always stuck with me, among others, is from the movie Gladiator. The scene where Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) is breaking the news to his insolent ingrate of a punk son Comodus (Joaquin Phoenix) that he won't be emperor, was well scripted with a phrase that belongs to both fathers and mothers.
On the verge of a convulsive emotional disengagement Commodus tries to justify his ideas of virtue rather than live by his father's ideas of virtue (the 4 virtues), as follows... Commodus: You wrote to me once, listing the four chief virtues. Wisdom, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance. As I read the list I knew I had none of them. But i have other virtues, father. Ambition, that can be a virtue when it drives us to excel. Resourcefulness. Courage. Perhaps not on the battlefield but there are many forms of courage. Devotion, to my family, to you. But none of my virtues were on your list. Even then, it was as if you didn't want me for your son.
Marcus Aurelius: Oh Commodus, you go too far....[your faults as a son are my failures as a father]. As a kid my father crammed into the heads of my brother and I his virtues and we were made to recite them at any given time ie respect people's property, no lying, no stealing, always defend your mother and sister and never eat breakfast before the animals were fed...we were duty bound by those words.
Then somewhere around the early 70s things changed, society was no longer tamed by the instinctive sanctimony for life and the critical importance of a solid family structure. The negative impact of radical feminism was such that a new era was ushered in where kids no longer had school lunches packed by mom, sky rocketing divorce and abortion, and single parent families were now a symbol of a successful future forged in a hearth of "change".
Look at where we are today, it was only supposed to be about liberating enslaved mothers....it was the precursor to the madness that defines modern civilization. Virtue means nothing today in fact it's mocked and this is not good.
Honestly the period has nothing to do with why women make bad rulers. I think men and women think differently. Its not like period — oh no Im unhinged. Men and women prioritize differently.
But women need a check against the corruption of males. Islam pandered to males and gave them everything their hearts desired....and it turned their nations to shit. Shitty corrupt bloody cess pits. If given permission men will resort to polygamy and fucking 13 year olds. And forcing women to live under sheets. There needs to be checks agains male and female corruption.
