My prediction for this winter here in Northern Ontario on the shores of Lake Superior including the U.P. of Michigan, is that winter will come by the 3rd week of November and it's going to hit hard. I am of the position that October will be a wet one with frequent snow flurries but no accumulation, a miserably wet fall up until the 3rd week of November, snow and cold and no sunshine for the entire month of December...January, February and March average temperature will be around -20C...January will be a "CULL MONTH" with frigid temps of -35 to -40 for 5 weeks....indicators point to a late spring.
How did I derive at this prediction? The bears I raise have pigged out and gorged themselves all summer and they've really bulked up. Besides the pigging out they also started mating early, they started in June and normally mating starts in August.
In addition to the caloric intake the bears are already sourcing out their winter dens and that's the big one, bears are preparing for winter now.
Maybe I'm full of shit but historically I've got a good track record at predicting the weather by studying animal behavior....I'll come back to this post a couple months from now.

You are very observant & most likely correct.
