Jews had immense power in Arabia prior to the creation of Islam. Jews in Yemen were reported as far back as 580 B.C meaning these were jews who fled to Yemen after the destruction of the first temple.

The tribe of Kindah was a tribe of jews and there were mass conversion of jewish Kindites to Islam. No doubt that the tribe of Kindah helped to spread Islam in Arabia.

Muhammad ibn al-Ash'ath al-Kindi was the chieftain of the Kindah tribe. He later served as the governor of Tabaristan under Umayyad victory of Iraq and later served as the governor of Mosul.

When the Arab tribe of Khazraj and Aws arrived in Yathrib (old name for Medina) around 2nd century AD they found it dominated by jews. The poorest land belonged to the Arabs and the richer lands were in the hands of the jews. The jews dominated the economic aspects of Medina. Arabs were weaker in all aspects of life and had to form alliances with the jewish tribes there.

The Arabs were indeed influenced by jews. Many Arabs did not like jews because of their decieving and supremacist nature and their mistreatment of those who were not jewish but the Arabs viewed jews as a 'learned people', 'people of knowledge'. The tribe of Aus and Khazraj who became the leaders of Medina (probably controlled by jews behind the scenes as the jews were in control of the economy there) followed the jews in many of their works.
It was the Jews who taught them how to write. Members of Arab tribes around Mecca and Medina had even converted to Judaism on top of intermarriages among the Arabs and the Jews.

It was also the jews who spread the idea of Muhammed's 'prophecy', that a time of the new prophet is near. This is believed to be the reason that helped the spread of Islam in Medina. The jews of Medina knew of the coming of Muhammed and the rise of Islam. How? Because they were the ones making it happen.

According to Sebeos, the Muslims had sent this letter to Byzantine Emperor, speaking of Palestine;

"God gave that country as the inherited property [i kaluats zharhangut'ean] of Abraham and of his sons after him. We are the sons of Abraham. It is too much that you hold our country. Leave in peace, and we shall demand from you what you have seized, plus interest. The emperor rejected this. He did not provide a fitting response to the message but rather said: "The country is mine. Your inheritance is the desert. So go in peace to your country."

In History of Palestine: 614-1096 C.E. by Rabbi Joseph Schwarz, 1850, he claims that;

Abu Bakr, the first Rashidun caliph and the father-in-law of Muhammed as he offered his youngest daughter (who was only 6 years old!) to be his wife was originally a Rabbi named Shallum. He converted to Islam and Muhammed gave him the name Abu Bakr.

The successor of Abu Bakr was Umar Ibn Al-Khattab. Umar was previously a close advisor to Abu Bakr and he was selected by Abu Bakr to be his successor.
Umar was the one who conquered Jerusalem from Byzantium.

Umar was later assassinated by Piruz Nahavandi, a brave Sassanid soldier who was captured by the Arabs and was made into a slave in Arabia. He stabbed Umar 6 times while he was busy praying. Piruz killed another 6 to 9 people who tried to subdue him before committing suicide when cornered.

Muhammed and the early Muslims in Medina initially prayed towards Jerusalem.

How convenient than that early Muslims prayed towards the direction the Al-Aqsa is located. Al-Aqsa which is supposedly built on the temple mount, the very direction jews pray towards. Al-Aqsa mosque was erected by Umar, the guy who knew Hebrew and would read the Torah, how interesting he would be the one to conquer Jerusalem and to erect a mosque on the temple mount.
