I've made a poll on a social and discovered that most teens don't have a computer. They use only big screen smartphones for internet. Prepare to welcome the whole last generation with glasses, when they are adults.

We are really getting close to the Star Trek computer that's always on that listens that answers whatever question you want or does whatever you want. And these things are turning out to be free and they're turning out to be small enough in size that you can run them on your own personal laptop and some of them are small enough that you can even run on your smartphone.

Again these run locally on your own computer so you don't need to be connected to the internet and what you say is not being fed back to some big monstrosity computer in the sky to haunt you later.

Sucky Microsoft just happened to release a really great small AI model that's free.     (youtu.be)

If you're not keeping up with these AI models they're all different AI brains that you can download off and on to even your smartphone and carry around with you and I'll do all kinds of different tasks and they get better and better. This one's very good at reasoning and math which is been especially difficult for some AI models to make get right. And this one is very small. When they say parameters consider it like neurons or something so if they say it's got 14 billion parameters then you can sort of consider it to have like 14 billion neurons. And the thing about this one is it does reasoning a lot better than a lot of the models that have 120 or 200 billion neurons.

Right now archive has a queue of more than 6000 users archiving. Usually the queue doesn't exceed past 100 - 200 users.

My only guess it's highly likely about Gaza truce, or TikTok ban and people switching to another Chinese social RedNote instead of American.

What do you think?

https://www.sitepoint.com/bittorrents-maelstrom-using-torrents-host-websites/

Has this been updated so it doesn't have to be static websites?

Old school bbs's used to sort of gather all the updates from all the users every periodic period of time so the BBS would always be updated and I'm just wondering if some combination of that with this project Maelstrom wouldn't sort of update the website torrent automatically to create a live rather than a static website that was hosted by a distributed method.

Consumers Cut Streaming Services In 2024 After Endless Price Hikes And Enshittification     (www.techdirt.com)
submitted by dosvydanya_freedomz to technology 4 months ago (+10/-0)

https://www.techdirt.com/2025/01/08/consumers-pay-less-for-streaming-in-2024-after-endless-price-hikes-and-enshittification/

Now that streaming subscriber growth has slowed, we’ve noted repeatedly how the streaming TV sector is falling into all of the bad habits that ultimately doomed traditional cable TV.

That has involved chasing pointless “growth of growth’s sake” megamergers and imposing bottomless price hikes and new annoying restrictions — all while simultaneously cutting corners on product quality in a bid to give Wall Street that sweet, impossible, unlimited, quarterly growth it demands.

Customers are reacting. According to Review’s annual State of Consumer Media Spending Report, the average American spent 23 percent less on streaming subscriptions in 2024 than in 2023. Not because streaming was cheaper, but because customers are being more particular about which streaming service they subscribe to in a bid to do something about soaring costs

“A total 27.8% of Americans report experiencing “streaming fatigue,” defined as that exact feeling of being overwhelmed with the increasing number of streaming apps.”
