For some reason, I had to log back in to my account several times today. It wouldn't remember I was logged in.
Second, when one of my posts was stickied to a sub I'm part of (oneangrygamer), it doesn't appear on the submissions portion of my account when I click my account name. I still get notifications of replies, though.
Also, my second-to-most recent comment in the comments section of my account doesn't have the post link under it like the others do. No idea why that is.
Just letting you know some odd stuff is going on. I'm sure it'll be ironed out in time.
That took longer than I thought. I ran into a bunch of issues, had to downgrade server os and mess with a bunch of stuff, but things seem to be working. Let me know if you run into any issues.
Just like Poal, we have a bunch of new "subverses" been explored by multiple account users and/or bots. I will not mention all, but keeping an eye on /news, you can see spam on new subverses created by the spammers... Meaning.. They created and own the sub, they post eavry minute. And they mysteriously get more upvotes in minutes than a bigger subverse... They are usually named variations of a main sub.. Like news... Realnews, truenews, actualnews, novanews, todaynews, covidnews, covidsperacy, covidjoke, covidjews, etc. Not sure if any of them exist here, but that is the idea they had in Poal.. They had no numbers.. Created subverse, spam, and eventually got enough "points" to dominate other subverses.. Please keep an eye open for them
As Voat grows the top comment will invariably have more and more sub-comments. Scrolling down and down gets annoying, and that feature is really nice. Thanks
So if you have given out 400 upvotes, you can give out 800 downvotes before it disables. 20 upvotes given? You can downvote a total of 40 times. If you want to reenable downvoting simply give out more upvotes.
This is to prevent serial downvoters. The 2:1 ratio is more than reasonable and would only prevent the most excessive downvoters. Under these rules currently only 2 accounts are effected with a 3rd soon to follow.
I know there will be people who complain about this, people who aren't even effected by it. Feel free to voice your opinion in this thread. But seeing the /all/new downvoted by one person, with no repercussion or incentive to give out some upvotes will forever be a problem without some kind of limit. I still have not implemented a ccp requirement for downvotes, that could change depending on abuse.
Hey @system it may help you to know I can replicate the comments not posting in one certain instance. Maybe it can help you track down the root of the problem.
Comments will not post if you click ( link ) on somebody else's comment. Then try to post a reply from there. For me.. it simply does not work.
I understand why you might want to put a cap on the ownership of subs. But I think that sub creation should be unlimited. When sub ownership equals 10 subverses, subverse creation should still be allowed, but allocated to system. This will allow for a more broad range of categories which should make posting for all users easier.
You should check your profile to make sure you don't own any subs or modding positions you don't want to. You can abandon a mod position on the sub page. To give up ownership of a sub instantly you can transfer it to username "MrGoat".
