That's fancy for 'lying.'

A brief reminder that Church Militant's live election coverage begins tonight at 7 p.m. with a preview of tomorrow's slated slaughter of the socialists. And then, tomorrow night live at 6 p.m., right here on Church Militant, we go live until it's over.

In the meantime, it's all over now but the voting, counting and reporting — and let's hope not any cheating. But speaking of that, have you noticed the polling in the last couple of weeks? It's really split now along two lines: liberal media giants lying through their teeth and then the honest ones.

Giant media outlets like The New York Times usually partner with some secondary outfit like a college or liberal think tank, and together produce a poll that is, shall we say, really wrong. If you go down, for example, a list of many polls, some of them just jump off the page.

All of a sudden last week, with every poll in the country showing major shifts toward Republicans and greatly narrowing gaps for Democrats who had been way ahead weeks earlier, The New York Times' Siena Poll along with another pack of prevaricators at an outfit called "Cygnal" were showing giant numbers in favor of Democrats.

CNN also got in on the action of phony polling but not as badly as the other two. The results are so far out of line with every other poll that it's glaring. Aside from being biased liars, the impact of all that is that they skew the averages of the polls conducted at some sites like Real Clear Politics.

For everyone out there who still thinks Fox News is somehow conservative because a couple of commentary hosts are, remember, Fox news uses the Real Clear average when reporting the toss-up races and never tells its viewers what we just told you — that the averages are skewed by wildly divergent polls.

Those polls also, unsurprisingly, always skew heavily in favor of the Democrats. You'd have to search high and low to find a poll that does this with GOP candidates, even polls done by GOP outfits. It's ridiculous as well as insulting to the common man to release a poll that has such outrageous divergence from others and offer not even an asterisk about it.

'Good' bishops blitz the faithful.

Earlier this week, the bishops of Arizona (including former bishop of Phoenix Thomas Olmsted, considered a "good" bishop) issued a statement taking a very thinly veiled swipe at faithful Catholics trying to fight the evil of phony Catholic politicians.

The statement, which used the pretext of faithful Catholics violating canon law, was conveniently issued just days after a Phoenix rally was held, sponsored by the group called "Catholics for Catholics." The group is taking dead aim at the scandal and sin of phony Catholics being permitted by the bishops to continue parading themselves around as somehow faithful.

The bishops need to prepare to burn in Hell for these sacrileges and offenses against the Faith and the truth. They attack faithful Catholics left, right and center. And yes, that includes even the so-called good bishops.

How badly will the Democrats lose?

As the red Category 3 (at least!) hurricane threatens to come crashing ashore in Democratic land, one place that is deep blue is promising to hold out against the Republican swamping. That's Maryland, where the governor's race is between solid political conservative Dan Cox, a current Maryland state legislator, and wildly liberal Marxist Wes Moore.

And as far as fundamental rights and belief in God and the need for morality in the culture go, Moore is definitely less. In short, Moore is a stone-cold liar. But then again, pointing out someone's embrace of Marxism and being a liar is redundant. He's a cheat, a liar and a straight-up communist.

For example, media reports recently revealed he hasn't paid his water bill totaling $21,000 for his mansion. Like all good Marxists, he loves the idea of the global reset. He spent four years as chief executive officer of the Robin Hood Foundation, euphemistically referred to as "Robbin' the Hood Foundation" because of its devastating effects on minority communities.

Yup, seriously.

You may not have heard, but the U.S. bishops are all hot to trot on their so-called Eucharistic Revival.

See, faith in the Real Presence is at pathetic lows among unfaithful Catholics here in America, and all the uproar among faithful Catholics at the bishops disobeying canon law spurred them to action. Well, sort of spurred them to action. What faithful Catholics were demanding was an end to political murderers like Joe Biden (and company) being allowed to receive Holy Communion.

So the most unmasculine response possible from the charitable, homosexual crowd in miters was what else? Launch a three-year, $28 million public relations campaign to proclaim the Church's teaching around the country in the dwindling number of parishes but — and this is the really important part, the key ingredient — actually do nothing to demonstrate the belief it is promoting.

In fact, let's keep those faith numbers low, as low as we can, by not actually doing anything to promote the teaching — you know, as in showing people we mean business. Kind of like, oh, I don't know, forbidding reception by big-name child-killing Catholics. That might be a good place to start, but, oh no. That would be a bridge too far for the all-are-welcome, let's-be-gay-together crowd at USCCB headquarters (might as well be a hippie drum circle)!

And if you think that's a little harsh, consider the following: In West Virginia, the town of Bridgeport, actually, and All Saints Parish, specifically, we have an up-close look at the bishops' Eucharistic Revival. The parish is combining the Eucharistic Revival events with its 75th-anniversary festivities.

So in celebration of both, the pastor, Fr. Jagela, invited Bp. John Stowe of Lexington, Kentucky, along with his diocesan coordinator (of all things gay) to talk about welcoming everyone. Seriously though, who else would you invite to talk about the need for belief in and worthy reception of the Body and Blood of Our Lord, other than a bishop who promotes sex between men? I mean, come on, man!

And remember, Stowe is a bishop — one of those who are promoting the Eucharistic Revival like, supposedly, all his brother bishops. Let's get real about this, shall we? The bishops as a body do not believe in the Real Presence. There is simply too much of a disconnect between their actions and their words. You could in no way believe the Host is actually Jesus but then refuse to defend His Real Presence from sacrilege. No way, José — not possible.

It goes back much farther than you may think.

The last couple of weeks, a rather loud and somewhat ongoing controversy has exploded onto the headlines again, involving claims that Jewish control of media is unfair or hurtful or too lopsided and so forth.

Kanye West was called out for anti-Semitism for saying the Jews control Hollywood and the media. Elon Musk, liberator of Twitter, even seemed to side with Kanye. He even posted a tweet asking "Who do you think owns the press?" back in May of 2018. It was quickly taken down. Even Donald Trump got in on the action, saying American Jews didn't appreciate his repeated efforts to support Israel.

Be that as it may, however true or not the accusations may be, there does appear to be collectivizing among a large percentage of the American Jewish population when it comes to politics.

After the conquering and subsequent destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 by Titus and his Roman X legion, the nature of Judaism as a religion shifted. For centuries, the religion of the people of Israel centered around Temple sacrifice for the sins of the people as they awaited the coming of the Messiah.

This close to Catholic.

The corpses of former Catholics piled up on the political landscape are appalling.

Church Militant has already interviewed Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was born and baptized Catholic, baptized her children Catholic and was poorly catechized; resulting in her leaving the Church when she saw the bishops being essentially limp-wristed communists.

But when you look closely around the battlefield and dig a little, you will see a large number of former Catholics carrying the banner of political conservatism. There is a hint of Catholicism in these candidates' positions and policies, sometimes much more than just a hint.

For example, Kari Lake, the upstart feisty candidate for Arizona governorship — raised Catholic, she now no longer has anything to do with the Church, although it's clear she still embraces some of her Catholicism when it comes to the natural world. Likewise, U.S. Senate candidate (also from Arizona) Blake Masters — he, too, was raised Catholic and has since left the Faith.

It's jarring to the sensibilities of faithful, well-catechized Catholics that so many of the people we are cheering on politically comprise some of the collateral damage of the Church imploding. How much better off would America have been, and be in the future, if these souls could have remained in the Church and been properly catechized, instructed and formed in the One True Faith?

Yet, as we see time and time again, they have been left to fend for themselves by a reckless and uncaring hierarchy. The bishops were more content with allowing the Joe Bidens, Pelosis, Kennedys, Caseys, Durbins, Leahys, Cuomos et al. to define the Faith for an entire country and party.

More disconnected from the Faith than politics.

One of the most interesting things about political seasons is all the polling. And quite frequently the questions are not just, Who are you going to vote for?

A recent poll surveyed Catholics in the battleground states of Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Arizona and Nevada, and asked questions about the Faith (in addition to political questions) — four such questions, actually — that we'd like to highlight for you, state by state. Remember, this is just Catholics answering.

On the question of abortion, an option was given: "Abortion should never be permitted under any circumstances." In Florida, only 10% of Catholics agreed with that statement. In Georgia, it was 6%; Pennsylvania, 7%; Ohio, 7%; Arizona, 5%; and Nevada, 7%.

But here is the funny twist to those responses. Another question asked, "[Do I] accept all the Church's teachings and that is reflected in how I live my life?" Look at those who responded "yes" and notice the absolute disconnect from the abortion question: In Florida, it's 14%; Georgia, 12%; Pennsylvania, 12%; Ohio, 11%, Arizona, 13%; and Nevada, 15%.

So across those six battleground states, an average of 13% of Catholics say they accept all of the Church's teachings. Yet on average, across the same battleground states, only 7% say they believe abortion should never be permitted.

Only half the Catholics claiming they believe everything the Church teaches accept everything the Church teaches, certainly in the matter of abortion, which, of course, strongly suggests they may very well reject other Church teachings while claiming to accept all the teachings. Talk about a disconnect. Apparently, those who accept all the Church's teachings have never heard the one on abortion.

Fauci wrecked by a leading China expert.

It's been almost three years, but in that time, the full realization of the COVID conspiracy is coming more and more to light. The truth is never able to be fully covered up, and proof of that maxim is coming forward as we learn more about what really happened, how it was manipulated, by whom and why.

[Transcript unavailable]

Steven Mosher is president of the Population Research Institute and one of the world's leading authorities on China. Of course, most importantly, he's also a solid, faithful Catholic. In addition to authoring various books on China, he's been on Tucker, Laura Ingraham, "Good Morning America", "60 Minutes", and written for the New York Post and Wall Street Journal.

In short, he's no slouch. He knows his stuff down cold. He's written what is the authoritative book on the entire COVID scam called "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Pandemics". With almost 100 pages of supporting footnotes, the fun really begins about halfway through. After a brief world history lesson of plagues and pandemics stretching back thousands of years, Mosher then spends about a hundred pages breaking down in easy-to-understand detail all the relevant information on the China virus.

[Transcript unavailable]

In a weekend op-ed in the New York Post, Mosher lays out his case against Anthony Fauci with his opening paragraph: "I must admit that I, like most Americans, am deathly tired of having to listen to — or in my case, write about — Dr. Anthony Fauci. It has been clear for some time that his prescriptions for dealing with the pandemic were not only wrong, but made things worse, much worse."

Because they don't truly love.

Before we begin, if I may ask you to say a prayer for my father and his eternal rest. Russ Voris would have been 93 today. God bless you, Dad.

And speaking of fathers, many spiritual fathers we have are an absolute disgrace and need to be called out left, right and center. The Irish have a term for such men — wastrels — one who expends resources foolishly and self-indulgently.

No one on the planet fits that definition more so than the U.S. bishops. Why? Because of the tremendous spiritual resources they have at their disposal, owing to their office. Yet time and time again, they squander those resources, refuse to tackle evil head-on and do nothing to protect the innocent.

But just as disturbing is the crowd of enablers who rush to the defense of these men because they, the bishops, are considered "orthodox." That word — orthodox — is treated as though it covers a multitude of sins. It does not. Not even close. Being privately orthodox is meaningless for a bishop if he does next to nothing to defend and advance the Faith.

It is of little consequence if he sits in his room and prays his Rosary and his daily Office, but goes out and withers in the face of evil. But it seems he can always count on the professional Catholics around him to make up excuses for him and say his life is tough and the decisions are tough and on and on.

First, there is no such thing as a tough decision when it comes to doing the right thing. What's "tough" is working up the courage to deal with the consequences. Admittedly, that may be tough. But the decision is not tough. Not even close. The decision is never tough.

Likewise, it might take a minute to collect all the data and information. But once that's done, the decision is always guided by the simple question, What's the right thing to do?

But today's weak, cowardly, revolting bishops — and for clarity, we mean the ones being defended by those around them for being orthodox — these bishops don't know how to even spell courage.

...

Yet, in a number that says it all, the vast majority of bishops have a much higher opinion of themselves. Go figure. Brain-dead, out-of-touch, tone-deaf egomaniacs. Completely self-centered, self-absorbed.

Run, bishop, run!

We Catholics don't believe in karma, certainly as a religious, spiritual thing. That said, karma, as a thing, is related to justice, and justice is certainly something we do believe in. Well, call it what you will, but the "karma bus" has pulled into the diocese of Buffalo.

The diocese has finally settled a yearslong case with the state of New York over sex abuse allegations, involving the clergy there, stretching back decades. But more to the point, and especially important for Church Militant, we were in on the ground floor of this story when it broke back in 2018 in the wake of the Theodore McCarrick revelations.

And it's time for a retreat.

There is one, and only one, goal in life — that is your own personal salvation. Nothing else matters.

Few faithful would argue with this, but it is common in our everyday lives that the truth of that can get swamped by the realities of day-to-day living. We need to be reminded of our end, even as we live in the current. Because of this, the Church has always encouraged not just daily devotion and prayer life but also "out of the box" experiences as well.

There is simply no way to get to Heaven if a person is not plugged into the spiritual realities — and plugged in every day.

Saint Padre Pio summed it up best: "Those who pray, have hope. Those who pray little, are in great danger. Those who do not pray, are lost."

According to polls from Pew Research, the percentage of Americans who say they pray "every day" is declining about half a percentage point every year. In what amounts to yet another sign of the failure of the church leaders to do their job, the following statistics are telling:

- Catholics — 59%
- Orthodox — 57%
- Protestants — 54%

Of those who say they pray every day, only 59% of Catholics said yes. That was followed closely by the Orthodox at 57% and mainline Protestants at 54%. And for some perspective, 71% of Muslims say they pray every day, and 62% of Hindus.

Also, it's no great shock that as we have seen religion become much more of an emotion-based experience — especially in Catholicism — women are much more embracing of it than men. Fully two-thirds of Catholic women say they pray every day, while slightly less than half of Catholic men do.

More than half of all Catholic men do not pray every day. That should be an earthquake across the Church — yet most just yawn their way through that news.

That's a bit two-faced, isn't it?

In the past few days, the retired former archbishop of Philadelphia (and before that, Denver) Charles Chaput stood in front of an audience and decried Joe Biden on abortion and being able to receive Holy Communion and so forth. Normally, actions and statements like those would be worth applauding and, certainly, the pure and simple message is.

However, as usual when a member of the U.S. hierarchy speaks, there is always the "grain of salt" factor you have to consider. *Numerous well-known "orthodox" clergy seem to all of a sudden be so terribly concerned with the state of affairs in the Church that has bled over predictably to the state of affairs in the world, culture and government. It's almost like they have no idea that their reigns as bishops in key times and places around the country actually helped set the stage for this meltdown we are all now falling victim to.

Since Chaput put himself out there with his recent remarks, let's do a brief review of him and his past actions as a good example. When he was in Philadelphia, he hosted the World Meeting of Families. Nothing extraordinary about that until (because there is always an "until" with these "orthodox" ones), he invited two of the most Culture of Death politicos you could imagine — you know, the anti-family guys — to be honorary chairmen of the World Meeting of Families.

One was Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf, the lowest form of political life possible, because he was the only governor in American history who was also a "death-scort" for Planned Parenthood — you know, death-scorts*. Those are the folks who wear the school crossing guard vests and block access from pro-lifers to women about to walk in and kill their children. Yup. Couldn't think of anyone better to be an honorary chairman for the World Meeting of Families.

Coming in a close second, however — because for Chaput, one just wasn't enough — he installed then-Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter as another honorary chair. Nutter has just wrapped up announcing to the world how proud he was that he and his administration were able to make Philadephia the most gay city in America. Whether that claim is actually true or not is beside the point. Nutter believed it to be true and was happy to take a bow.

So what does the "orthodox" Catholic archbishop of Philadelphia do? Well, make him an honorary chairman of the World Meeting of Families. What else?

No one likes weirdos.

The latest numbers have been compiled regarding U.S. Catholics. If you thought they were bad 10 years ago, then just wait.

For comparison, let's look first at those 2012 numbers. For the record, these are the official numbers of the U.S. bishops. In 2012, there were about 97 million Americans who said they had been Catholic at some point in their lives. Of those 97 million 10 years ago, 74 million continued identifying as Catholic.

That translates into nearly 25% who no longer claimed to be Catholic. About 18 million of those 74 million went to Mass each week, with about one-quarter of those still identifying as Catholic and about 19% of those who had at some time been Catholic.

OK, fast-forward to today — 2022, 10 years later. Same categories.

First, there are 87 million Americans claiming to have been Catholic at some time in their lives. This is 10 million fewer than in 2012, a drop of a cool million every year. Of these 87 million, 73 million still identify as Catholic. This is almost unchanged from 10 years ago.

That translates into 17% of the much smaller overall pool who no longer claim their Catholic identity. And of those 73 million still self-identifying, 17 million go to Mass each week — again, like 10 years ago, a little less than a quarter.

However — and there is always a however — this is a self-reverential analysis by the bishops. What they do not factor in is the growing U.S. population and the number of Catholics relative to the population.

In 2012, the total U.S. population was 308 million. People who had been Catholic at some time in their lives was 97 million — about 31%. In 2022, the total U.S. population stands at about 331 million, and people who had been Catholic at some time in their lives about 87 million — a drop to 26%.

The U.S. population growth, while absolutely slowing, is still outstripping Catholics.

In short, whatever "evangelization" efforts the bishops think are working are cratering. In fact, it has gotten so bad that popular culture is making fun of the whole sorry scene.

A stupid, slightly vulgar yet popular animated series from a few years back called "Beavis and Butthead" tells the tale of the ineptitude of the tone-deaf efforts on the part of the clergy to bring in new sheep.

Unlike in former centuries, too much of the clergy is almost completely out of touch with everyday people.

'Red wave' rising.

In the world of politics, it's an up-and-down affair. It mirrors the spiritual life. Sometimes there are highs and peaks; other times there are slips and plunges. What matters is that you finish at a peak.

Happily, with less than three weeks to go, it looks like the Marxist–socialist Democrats may have peaked too soon.

For a large part of the end of summer until the end of September, the Democrats have almost entirely erased the massive lead Republicans held all over the country. Fueled by the overturning of Roe and falling gas prices, the Democrats had drawn to near even in virtually every poll.

But then along came the effects of Joe Biden's "destroy America plan" — supported by every single Democrat on Capitol Hill.

Well, since those short-lived halcyon days of September, gas has climbed noticeably, there is no end in sight to inflation, stocks have tanked, pension plans have been wiped out and abortion has bottomed out as a top issue, even among women voters who identify as "independent."

And in what will go down as one of the largest strategic blunders of perhaps all time, the Democrats placed all their chips on the issue of abortion. After the initial uproar by Marxists at the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe, the issue has now receded to one of the least concerned about — low single digits, in fact — as people go to the store and gas pumps every week.

Democrats may have miscalculated that people cared more about being able to kill children than dealing with the effects of an economy careening off course.

Mortgage rates have more than doubled, bringing the housing market to a virtual standstill. Investment portfolios and pension plans have been so devastated, that one out of every four Americans now say they have to delay retirement.

As a result, the polls have stopped their freefall for Republicans, and turned around — with gaps between the GOP and Marxists once again widening.

And if that is a disappointment for Democrats, it will turn into a nightmare for them, if it holds up, because many of those Republicans gaining a head of steam are Trump Republicans — and they are heading to D.C. ticked off.

*This must be brought to an end.

I'm coming to you from the political battleground of Arizona — specifically Phoenix, in Maricopa County.

Arizona, you may recall, was a huge flashpoint in the 2020 election. Fox called the race early, ticking off many of its viewers.

In the end, Biden was given the state by a margin of just under 11,000 votes out of 3.4 million cast. This gave him, on paper, a win of one-third of 1 point. That razor-thin margin set off a series of investigations and audits throughout the state and has been the major fuel for the election-integrity movement that has swept the country since.

Arizona has another drama playing out that Catholics should follow. It's the challenge being put forward by faithful Catholics against phony Catholics who are running in the state.

In fact, there are five races where Marxist Democrats claiming to be Catholic are being dogged by the faithful for their phony faith. They are huge races: U.S. Senate, two crucial congressional seats, governor and secretary of state.

The U.S. Senate candidate is incumbent phony-Catholic Mark Kelly running against Trump-endorsed Blake Masters.

According to liberal polling outfits, Kelly has been out in front consistently, anywhere from 3 to 6 points. Kelly got roasted by Masters last week in the campaign's only scheduled debate, but the latest polls don't include those results.

The two phony congressional Catholics are Tom O'Halloran in the 4th Congressional District and Greg Stanton in the 9th. O'Halloran and Stanton are reliable Marxist votes every time and are steady supporters of child killing. Rumors are even bandied about that Stanton has a gay lover. Incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly is likewise a fan of unfettered child killing.

In the midst of this embrace of disastrous anti-family policies, socialist indoctrination, homosexuality and child killing, there has not been a peep from the bishops*, who are content to simply look the other way regarding their Katholyk politicos.

And it's not just the Democrats.

I'm Michael Voris, coming to you from our continuing tour of the southwestern United States, where the illegal immigration and border crisis problems are most acutely felt.

In addition to the Democrats losing Latinos over these issues, as well as quite a few others, so too are the U.S. bishops. A little history is in order to understand the scope of the problem.

In short, there is not only a problem of Latino illegals flowing into the country, *there is a larger spiritual problem of Latinos flowing out of the Church.* Yes, it is a "border crisis" that the bishops manufactured — more on that dynamic in a moment.

And based on a lie complete with heresy.

The current disaster in the Church is chasing some unsuspecting souls right into the arms of breakaway schismatic groups.

The SSPX, for example — shorthand for the Society of St. Pius X — is one such group. It's not the only one, but the one that seems to get the most "love" from so-called traditionalists.

For the record, jumping ship into a schismatic group is never the answer, no matter how "Catholic" that group may look or sound. All schismatic groups look Catholic. That's how they fool and attract people to leave the Church.

A major shift is just about to happen.

I'm Michael Voris, coming to you from Taco-land, at least according to Jill Biden. To the rest of Americans who aren't racist, it's just called Texas.

If you missed that little gem she let slip a few weeks back, here it is: As she tried to connect with Latin voters, she butchered their language and called them tacos. Even the really unelected Democrats can't seem to get out of their own way.

There is a horrible miscalculation that the Democrats — who really are racist — made about Latino voters. In a phrase, here it is: "They're all the same."

Democrats have strategized for decades that they will do next-to-nothing to stop the flow of illegal immigration. In the end, it will benefit them at the polls during elections.

The reasoning went something like this: "All these Mexicans are all the same, and the ones already here legally will welcome the illegals, because they're all just tacos at the end of the day."

It's nearly unavoidable. The truth comes out of the mouths of even evil people, the truth being that irresistible.

Just like Whites aren't all the same and Asians aren't all the same, Latinos are not all the same. But when your party leadership is flat-out racist, you see the world in racist terms.

After all, racist Nancy Pelosi just said it's wrong for Republican governors to send busloads and planeloads of illegal immigrants up North because — wait for it — they need to be down South, picking the crops.

The Democratic Party appeals to Latino voters are about as authentic as Robert O'Rourke, a fourth-generation Irish American, running around using a pet name given to him by his family to distinguish him from his grandfather.

Beto O'Rourke has about as much in common with Latino voters as Latinos have in common with "Bo-Guh-Das" — which is to say, nothing. His name is Robert. Period.

But the phony appeal by Democrats here in Texas to Latino voters does have some reasoning behind it. This year, for the first time ever, there are more Latinos in Texas than Whites — excluding Beto, of course.

That's why the eyes of the political world will be on Texas this election — to see exactly how the Latino vote breaks down. Democrats have longed for this moment and helped engineer it, but it might just blow up in their faces.

Latino voters are proving to be much more stubbornly conservative than Democrats had hoped.

Group after group is walking away.

With the midterms now under the one-month mark (27 days to be precise), there are two different narratives developing.

On the one hand, the Marxist media is pushing the theme that the Democrats are roaring back. The red wave may still happen, but nowhere near as drastically as once believed. It'll be reduced to a red puddle.

This is being brought to you by the same crowd that has peddled every wrong narrative in the past six years, from there's no recession to COVID to the "big lie" to parents are domestic terrorists to the FBI leadership is awesome to Afghanistan was just a little messy to Hunter's laptop was OK to Hillary's emails were about Chelsea's wedding, and on and on.

On the other side, you have the logical people, the Patriots and polling firms that actually poll and don't predetermine the outcomes — places like Trafalgar.

Trafalgar has through multiple election cycles now been not only the closest, but most accurate in successfully predicting the outcome of almost everything they've polled. And yes, that includes calling Trump in 2016, the disappearing "blue wave" of 2018 and the strangeness around 2020.

This time around, they and others are detecting something the mainstream doesn't want to understand or perhaps acknowledge — actually two things.

One is the narrative about the vanishing red wave: While perhaps having receded a bit, isn't really grounded in much real-world reality.

And the second largely unreported thing is the Latino vote is one of the major drivers. And for Catholics, remember, about half that Latino vote is made up of what's proving to be socially conservative Catholics.

Roll episode.

One of the largest challenges — perhaps the largest — media outfits have is how to present and package information we have.

Some might think we'll just write an article and publish it. Not so much. Industry standards have shown for decades now that a vast majority of people only read the headline.

A few more read the first paragraph, and, after that, unless the reader is very interested in the story already, most people stop. Reading has been on the decline in America for years, but that has been accelerated with the advent of short-attention-span social media blurbs and video.

In short, very large numbers of people prefer to watch and listen, as opposed to read. That's why Church Militant has been dedicated to video/TV presentation since our very first day.

It is also why all sorts of other Catholic media outlets have followed our lead and committed resources to video as well, with podcasts and interviews and all that. Video presentations, for better or worse, connect with the average Joe much more so than reading.

People see other people on their screens. They see another human face, like theirs (like they do in their everyday lives), and they respond — positively or negatively. People simply identify with another face more than they do words on a page or screen.

So the face, the person, the presentation becomes the vehicle for conveying the idea.

So in this world, this is always the challenge. How to take the idea, the information, and package it together so that message is conveyed as best as possible, within the limits imposed by day-to-day reality.

The more sophisticated or involved the presentation is, the costlier it becomes, generally speaking.

But if we want to reach people, this is just part of the equation. It's how the Marxists have been so extraordinarily successful in their quest to corrupt minds. They know the power of the visual, and they execute that power very well.

But why?

Say what you want about Trump, but he tapped into something in the American male psyche.

This is most easily seen in what is happening with minority voters, particularly Black and Hispanic males. Both of these groups were traditionally solid supporters of Democratic candidates.

But ever since Trump arrived on the political scene, males — both Black and Hispanic — have been migrating to the Trump camp. We saw that trend begin in 2016 and only increase in 2020.

Now, with only about a month to go before the midterms, it looks like the trend is picking up speed. Black women are, hands down, the most reliable voting bloc in the Democrat column. But Black males are not so much of a lock anymore.

Democrats still have the majority of Blacks, including Black men, but Trump has cut noticeably into that lead. The movement of male voters is refashioning the political landscape, as sociologists and politicos review the data and try to figure things out.

What seems to be going on, considering it is minority men moving to Trump, could be as simple as this: Trump represents a form of masculinity not seen in these parts for many years.

In short — they lie, defame and smear.

The Church is in a disastrous state.

Many bishops don't believe the Faith. They certainly don't care about souls. They have destroyed countless souls. Anyone with a brain can see this. It is undeniable.

The question isn't, Is this all true? It has been asked and answered multiple times. The question is, What do we do?

This is where a great divergence has occurred. It is a deep wound in the Body of Christ.

Among those who are most distressed over the current crisis — and yes, it is a giant crisis — there is too often a tendency to throw the baby out with the bathwater. They turn uncritically and unthinkingly to anything that proposes itself to be a remedy to the crisis.

As a result, the sense of "tradition" gets bandied about as some kind of silver bullet cure-all for everything ailing the Church.

However, "tradition" means different things to different people — who, again, have to properly understand the nature of the crisis. For example, there is a naive belief that if it happened before Vatican II and if it was accepted before Vatican II, then it must be rushed into headlong.

While that instinct is certainly understandable, it's wrong — dead wrong.

We aren't talking about Church teaching, we're talking about the approach to the Church. For faithful Catholics who cling to tradition, properly understood, they also cling to wrongheaded traditions that come along for the ride.

For example, there is the approach to the priesthood. Faithful Catholics treasure the priesthood. It is the priesthood that brings us Our Blessed Lord in the Eucharist, bestows absolution for our sins and so forth. All that is a tradition.

But coming along with that is an approach to individual priests that is completely wrongheaded. Just because a priest wears a cassock all the time and offers the Latin Mass does not make him holy.

McCarrick started out wearing a cassock, was ordained in the Old Rite — and was raping seminarians left and right. Cardinal Spellman of New York, who raised McCarrick from the dust and set his feet on the path of careerism, wore a cassock, loved the lace, was solidly orthodox in his preachings, offered the Latin Mass — and was reportedly massively homosexual.

We move to Joseph Bernardin, who was not only homosexual but also involved in Satanism. Bernardin wore his cassock, was ordained in the Latin rite, offered the Latin Mass and was notorious.

So it goes. In fact, every single bishop at Vatican II pre-existed the Council, quite obviously. Each was made bishop by totally solid popes.

So, how did things go so sideways?

To delude yourself that all was good before Vatican II, and therefore everything in the Church before that needs to be emulated today, is simply just that: delusional. In fact, the argument can easily be made that the seminaries prior to Vatican II were the breeding grounds for the homosexuality that eventually burst onto the scene with Catholic clergy starting in the 1960s.

If everything was so hunky dory before 1965, how was it that so many religious — male and female — simply abandoned their vows and religious communities so quickly? Why was Mass attendance in France already in a freefall, with fewer than half of Catholics in the Eldest Daughter of the Church actually going to Mass?

The fact that there are massive problems today — seemingly almost insurmountable — does not discount that there were very serious problems back then as well.

So to want to "turn back the clock" to before 1965 is a wrongheaded approach.

Regarding the laity, within three years of the council ending, Catholics all over the West ignored the teaching on contraception and embraced the Culture of Death. That speaks directly to a huge lack of catechesis. There is just no way a well-prepared and instructed laity would walk away from the Church, in such huge numbers and in such a short period of time, if they had been properly instructed. It's not possible.

Or lying to you.

The archdiocese of Baltimore, the nation's first diocese, has seating at weekend Masses for 25,000 attendees. Only about 2,000 show up.

Ten years ago, under the leadership of the reported homosexual Cardinal Abp. Edwin O'Brien, the archdiocese set up one of those Madison Avenue marketing campaigns to make it look like they were taking the decline of the Faith back then seriously. They weren't.

Back then, the immediate issue was the plummeting enrollment and drastic falloff of Catholic schools. So, of course, a strategic plan was instituted and a blue-ribbon committee was established, complete with consultations and listening sessions. That's what they always do.

You'll notice there are never any strategic plans, blue-ribbon committees, consultations and listening sessions undertaken about how to teach the fullness of the Faith. These only happen when the bank accounts are hit.

In either case, that was 10 years ago. The result was even more losses.

Today, homosexualist Abp. William Lori has rolled out a new strategic plan. This one will not only deal with the drop in Catholic schools, but also Catholic parishes. The silly name given to the latest plan is "Seek the City to Come." They always have these stupid names.

Everyone really knows what's going on. It's nothing other than managing the decline. That's all it is.

The problem, as it is stated, is how to reorganize the current parish system to serve the needs of the people and the surrounding community. But Lori and the rest of the nation's bishops are lying to themselves.

You can't just keep rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Eventually, it sinks.

You have no faith.

When companies are doing internal reviews and want to know what their customers think of them, their products and their services, it's typical that they conduct market surveys.

The surveys come in all kinds, shapes and forms — from focus groups to incentive emails to online surveys, and so forth.

Recently, a company sent out a survey and asked the following questions of its patrons:

- Where do you live?
- What have been your experiences doing business with us?
- What are your hopes for our company in the future?
- What are three to five words you would use to describe what you like most about the company?
- What are three to five words you would use to describe the difficulties you have had with the company?
- Which of the following (sense of community, feeling of acceptance, being listened to and valued, among other things) do you consider the strengths of the company and the reasons you patronize us?

As companies "dig down" into their customers' likes and dislikes (and then, broader opinions and thoughts), they often ask these types of questions. And then, whatever they are able to implement from these surveys, they do.

After all, you've got to keep the customer happy, because a happy customer is a repeat customer. Now, a little confession: The "company" that sent out the survey was a diocese asking Catholics those questions and a few others.

For all the bluster about "all voices being valued," go ask your local chancery if Church Militant's voice can be valued at the next diocesan men's conference.
