Coming out of the grave.

As you might imagine, given the work we do here at Church Militant (thanks to your continuing support for it), we come across lots of people of goodwill who simply haven't heard the glory of Catholicism expounded in any meaningful way.

Every now and then, we run into spurts, if you will, where we are heavily engaged in multiple offline conversations with poorly catechized Catholics or goodwill Protestants. We are in one of those spurts right now, as I and others here are spending an unusual amount of time, compared to normal, speaking with such folks over private dinners, emails, phone calls and even "DMing" on Twitter.

And blessed be God for the opportunity to be engaged like this.

It's evangelization in the trenches — much like we imagine would have been the case in the early days of the Church and various periods throughout the past 2,000 years. We're sharing these behind-the-scenes, away-from-the-cameras scenarios with you for one reason: to help you with such activity in your own lives.

And here is a major tip: Get straight to the Eucharist first, closely followed by Scripture. All the other stuff — statues, "worshiping" Mary, confessing to a priest — while certainly worthy of discussion, can easily become distractions to the major, central theme of the Church, the Holy Eucharist, because every single other thing or topic in the Church rises or falls on this single truth. Either that it's actually the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ, or it is not.

As the teaching goes, the Eucharist, the real presence of Jesus Christ, hidden under the appearance of bread and wine, is both the source and summit of the Faith.

Reaching rock bottom.

It's your destiny.

At the core of every human being is the desire to feel and be safe. It's not to be loved, at least on its own. It's to be safe, to be protected. Those are by-products of love, what love ultimately leads to.

Providing safety — is there any better way to describe authentic masculinity? The entire patriarchy, in fact, is centered on this very notion. Loving men sacrifice for the safety and security of those around them. But to focus on the issue of being safe, when a human being (or even a pet) believes rightly or wrongly that he is not safe, all hell breaks loose.

People go off the rails — angry, confused, self-doubting, developing feelings and thoughts of not being able to be loved or cared for. In short, the diabolical moves in for the kill. The spiritual and emotional pump is primed for a demonic takeover of the person. This is not necessarily a physical possession but an operational control of the person.

Knowing you are safe is the absolute bottom root desire of every human being. And, again, it's so basic that even our dogs and cats revolve their relationships with us around that.

So what is "safe"? In sum, it means you can never be harmed, hurt or unaccepted. Safety is summed up in Scripture in one of the most beautiful ways (it's one of my personal favorites) in the reference from St. John's Apocalypse, "And I will wipe away every tear from your eyes. And there will be no more mourning or pain, for the old order has passed away."

A big change is coming.

They often say in politics that a president's legacy is whatever legislation he signs into law or the justices he gets on the U.S. Supreme Court. Long after he's left office, the stamp he may have placed on the high court will long survive him.

If you scoot across the Atlantic and land in Rome, you'll see that a similar happening is underway when it comes to Pope Francis naming cardinals.

In what appeared to be a much longer stay last month in the hospital for Pope Francis — and what also looked like something much more serious, up to and including a heart attack (and may very well have been) — talk began circulating about his dying and then, of course, who would be the next pope.

How to destroy America.

Looking at the collapse of the culture as well as the Church, many people are left scratching their heads — especially those of us who grew up in a very different America.

But just as it's intellectually off base to blame the crisis in the Church on Pope Francis, it's just as off base to blame the collapse of the nation on just one or a few influencers.

The collapse of the Faith stretches back decades — many more decades than most people stop to consider.

For example, Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven were two radical professors of sociology at Columbia University back in the 1960s. The aim of the husband–wife duo was to manufacture a crisis by overwhelming the welfare system with a flood of new applicants.

They correctly reasoned that this would force the government to adopt various policies that were radical leftist at their core, disguised as wanting to "help the poor."

Always beware of those who want to "help the poor," especially when they live in luxury. What we are witnessing in America today is their plan coming to fruition — actually, more than coming to fruition, nearing its completion.

The heart of the Cloward–Piven plan is this: violent revolution for the sake of socialism is not needed when, instead, you can simply so burden the welfare system that it collapses under its own weight.

Bad news for believers.

There's a secret attack going on against religion, and it's being launched by the bishops' favorite Catholic — the one their silence helped get into the Oval Office.

For everyone who thinks Congress and the White House and the courts are three coequal branches of government, then you must be living in a state that has legalized pot. The imperial presidency is running amok in a war against God (which is to say, more specifically, Christianity and, directly, Catholicism).

The executive branch, meaning the president and all his cabinets and departments, wields enormous power and is able to use that power almost secretly — through an instrument known as "notice of proposed rulemakings."

What that translates down to for all the non-bureaucrats out there is this: Of the millions of rules and regulations that exist that began with Congress or the White House, each executive department is able to go into those rules and "amend" them. That means redefine, broaden, narrow the scope, and so forth.

'Radical Catholic ideology.'

What is "radical Catholic ideology"? The question dominated the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee hearings this month.

Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J.: "What is radical Catholic ideology? Why were we looking into that? What's that about?" 

That's a good question. Unfortunately, the FBI thug trying to avoid perjuring himself since he was under oath sidestepped the entire matter.

Christopher Dunham, acting assistant director, FBI: "I'm not able to speak to specifics of the actual product. I think that's what the internal review that I referenced earlier." 

Van Drew: "Doesn't that concern you?" 

Dunham: "Certainly, I agree with the director's statements that the product was inexcusable." 

...

That Vortex was Feb. 15. Press reports about the leak started circulating about a week earlier. The leak itself occurred a month before that. So if the FBI is so embarrassed and disavowing of their dossier, why has it taken them so long to get to the bottom of it? Do they still not know who, as in what agent, put this together? Really? Three months later?

They can kick down the doors of pro-lifers with almost no notice. They can raid a former president's private residence pretending they finally found the smoking gun within minutes. But within their own agency, they can't figure out who researched, prepared and authorized a report violating the First Amendment rights of faithful Catholics?

Fail in this call and you are damned.

Anyone Catholic who is not about the business of evangelization might never entertain a serious hope of the beatific Vision.

Those words do not originate with Church Militant — although we wholeheartedly agree, which is why we are presenting them to you. They come from Fr. John Hardon, an old-school Jesuit who died in 2000 here in Detroit, despised by the modernist clique that runs the archdiocese here.

Fr. Hardon has been named a servant of God, the first step on the road to sainthood. The holy priest made no bones about the extremely weighty responsibility Catholics bear when it comes to spreading the good news of salvation and the necessity of the Catholic Church.

In so saying and doing, he echoed the words of Our Lord: "To whom much is given, much will be demanded." Too few Catholics — even among those who know the Faith, sufficiently at least — either realize or accept the call of duty to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

There is almost zero missionary sense, much less zeal, for saving souls. And let's be very clear here: There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. Yet way too many Catholics themselves are offended by that, anticipating the offense others will take at it.

It's all or nothing.

A blessed Easter to each and every one of you. We celebrate Easter for eight days because the joy of the Resurrection cannot be contained to just one day. And let's talk about that joy and plugging into it.

First, let's be clear from the outset. If you do not worthily receive Holy Communion — the Real Presence of Jesus Christ, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity — you are playing with fire, eternal fire.

Despite all the good "feelings" and "emotions" over the Resurrection, those will evaporate for those who willfully disregarded or rejected the Divine Master's command to eat my Body and drink my Blood. How a person feels about Jesus or parts of His life or some of His teachings is entirely meaningless. What matters is the truth, nothing else.

Our Lord Himself directly connected the necessity of eating and drinking His Body and Blood to the Resurrection. In the synagogue at Capernaum, in front of the disbelieving Jews, He said, "He who eats My Body and drinks My Blood abides in Me, and I will raise him up on the last day."

The real Church — the only Church, the Catholic Church — has held and taught this from the very beginning. Normatively speaking, a person who rejects the Real Presence is damned. That is what the Incarnate Eternal Logos said, not Michael Voris, not Church Militant but the Son of God: "Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His Blood, you have no life within you."

Mentally ill, fat criminals. Wow!

Remember the old line about the "chickens coming home to roost"? Well, here's more proof of that when it comes to the once-great American nation. Decades of disaster regarding young Americans are finally taking their toll.

The Pentagon is announcing that not only is the U.S. military missing its recruiting targets by alarming numbers, but one giant leading cause is that kids are too fat. Other causes are that they are jacked up on drugs or mentally ill or have criminal records. However, perhaps the most frightening dimension of this is that the leading cause is a combination of all the above. 

Active U.S. military personnel total 1.3 million. Last year, the Pentagon set a goal of recruiting 60 thousand new members. They missed by 15 thousand (25 %). And that's just in one year alone. When it's all said and done, the Pentagon study concludes that almost 4 out of 5 kids cannot qualify for military service — that's 77 %! And remember, that's from the Pentagon's own findings.
