Cast him out!

In a recent article in the publication First Things, Bp. Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, Illinois, absolutely blitzed Cdl. Robert McElroy of San Diego. Bishop Paprocki actually wrote the article (a commentary, actually), and it had the trappings of an ecclesiastical firing squad, destroying McElroy for his phony-baloney pretense and false teachings about the Holy Eucharist.

Paprocki, in a theological jiujitsu, absolutely leveled McElroy when he said he's a heretic who has excommunicated himself for his preachings and beliefs. Bam! While it is a point of order that the bishop never actually identified the cardinal by name, he did identify him by his words. Paprocki begins by politely presenting the case as a hypothetical — well, sort of:

"Imagine if a cardinal of the Catholic Church were to publish an article in which he condemned "a theology of eucharistic coherence that multiplies barriers to the grace and gift of the eucharist" and stated that "unworthiness cannot be the prism of accompaniment for disciples of the God of grace and mercy." Or what if a cardinal of the Catholic Church were to state publicly that homosexual acts are not sinful and same-sex unions should be blessed by the Church?"

Well, you don't have to imagine it or speak of it as a hypothetical — because it's actually real. The words Bp. Paprocki lifted to describe the "imaginary" cardinal were directly taken from pro-gay Cdl. McElroy himself. In a January article in the pro-gay magazine, America, published by the pro-gay Jesuits, the pro-gay cardinal said exactly those pro-gay words (attributed to the "hypothetical" and "imaginary" cardinal).

...

The article that McElroy penned for the pro-gay social justice rag that James Martin is an editor at large for — the article is a piece of crap — and that's being beyond charitable. The loser cardinal directly defies Catholic teaching across the board, saying, in essence, sexual acts don't really matter; sleep with whomever the hell you want and do whatever the hell you want and then come up to the Lord's table and receive.

And, as usual, the heretical claptrap from the pro–anal sex crowd in robes is rife with woke social justice vocabulary. Inclusion, big-tent dialogue, radical inclusion, cultures of exclusion, discernment, pilgrimage and so on, until you reach for the vomit bag. These types are always saying how much we need to "reimagine" and "dialogue" and "understand things in a new and radical way," but somehow their strategy never seems to apply to themselves.

Yo, Cardinal, go "reimagine" your own damn heresy, for once. Of course, what McElroy filth would be complete without the whole sodomy-cheering portion? And right on cue, His Hereticalness gets down to business with, first, the blasting of Church teaching about sexual sins and, second, using that to bless sodomy as, well, just not that big of a deal (you know, like sex was procreation or something and reserved for married couples actually capable of procreating).

McElroy deserves to be stripped of his office, then his priesthood, then his participation in the life of the Church — including the sacraments — and just be left to count his blessings that he didn't live in former times when being executed would have come along with that list of punishments. Is it cases like this why, all of a sudden, the death penalty is out of fashion in Rome?

More questions?

About that FBI report that got leaked showing the FBI targeting Catholics, and the bureau's weird yet revealing response to it — it was leaked from the Richmond field office and posted on the site UncoverDC by former special agent and whistleblower, Kyle Seraphin, himself a Catholic. In addition to a list of various groups, Church Militant was singled out on Page 4 of the eight-page dossier as aligning with "anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBT and white supremacy ideology," which — in the FBI's incorrect estimation — also overlaps with an embrace of the Traditional Latin Mass.

You talk about horrible research. But there's more here to see than meets the eye. Most importantly, this is part of a much larger tapestry; that if you are conservative in your politics and religion — not an uncommon mixture at all — you are immediately suspect by Biden's Department of Justice. This dossier is only the latest in a series of steps by the FBI to harass and intimidate conservatives — especially Christians and, in particular, Catholics.

Think of the report that was released early on in Biden's administration, claiming the greatest threat to America's security is homegrown terrorism — domestic terrorists and extremists — which is shorthand for White Christian nationalists, which is a dog whistle to label anyone with conservative political views (which often includes Christians) as enemies of the State. Well, certainly in view of the increasing reality that the "State" under Biden is anti-God, anti-religion and so forth, conservatives in a sense are enemies of the State — that State.

Can the trains be far behind?

A few days ago, an internal FBI report was leaked, drawing an association between what it calls "Radical, Traditional Catholics" (RTC, for short) and what the bureau says is "racist, bigoted, white nationalist political views." The name of the eight-page dossier is "Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists (RMVE) and their interests in 'Radical-Traditionalist Catholics' or 'RTCs.'"

Church Militant is named directly on Page 4 of that FBI report and, on scanning through it, is the only media group mentioned by name. The eight-page dossier strains to make any coherent argument that believing, practicing Catholics hate Jews, Blacks, gays and immigrants — a subject treated almost as a throwaway assumption, like it's just a given.

The FBI dossier then moves from its incorrect connection between these "attitudes" — which, again, do not exist — and the threat of actual violence against pro-abortion people. Without the slightest justification, much less actual proof, the unidentified writer of the dossier swings wildly between theological issues and political issues, making connections that just don’t exist.

Since Church Militant is mentioned by name and singly, we are going to take this moment to respond officially to this reckless pack of lies, misinformation and obvious political targeting by an increasingly woke and leftist-leaning FBI. First, let's talk about the theological idiocy the FBI report contains.

...

This is beginning to have a sniff of ancient Rome under Nero. But maybe we're getting ahead of ourselves just a bit. The report presents the horribly reasoned case that Catholic theology, at least as it exists in these schismatic circles, which again Church Militant is just lumped into by the FBI's "Department of Theological Analysis," also hates Jews, Blacks, gays, women and immigrants.

Those hatreds, which don't exist, then create some kind of natural bridge, according to the FBI, to White nationalists in the political realm. And therefore, the FBI deems it a high priority to keep an eye on Catholics. These bad assumptions and crazy connections and flat-out stupid conclusions, again based on equally retarded press accounts from the Left, show just how unhinged the government has become, and its powers weaponized against faithful Catholics.

One excuse after another.

On the reality of the Society of Saint Pius X being in schism, perhaps the most vociferous protest to that by SSPX supporters is "But, but, Pope Francis gave the priests of the Society faculties to absolve and marry people, so, therefore, they can't be in schism." That wildly false conclusion is even trumpeted, unthinkingly or deceptively, by internet Catholic media types and websites. It is simply false. Being extended the faculties to absolve or marry does not regularize a priest or make the SSPX no longer in schism.

What Pope Francis did during the 2016 Jubilee Year of Mercy, in order to encourage confessions by the faithful, was grant faculties to the schismatic SSPX so that those laymen who follow them would receive valid absolution. Notice a point here not talked about very often, especially by the Catholic internet/media types who support the schism: In order for him to grant them faculties, that means prior to that, they did not possess the faculties. But the granting of faculties does not bring about the end of a schism.

The pope, whoever he may be, has supreme jurisdiction over the Church. And if he so desires, he may grant faculties to a priest — even if the priest is suspended or in schism. This is a matter of ecclesiastical law, again, of which the pope is the supreme lawgiver. As we discussed last week, it is the pope who has ultimate temporal jurisdiction over the Church — not the laity, not the bishops and so forth — the pope. If he dispenses with an ecclesiastical law for some reason, then it is dispensed with.

What you were never supposed to see.

As we showed you in yesterday's Vortex, Church Militant has come into possession of a secret email sent to all the U.S. bishops more than 20 years ago. It's from the Catholic Medical Association, and it outlines the serious, grave issue of homosexuality within the clergy and how it is the cause of the sex abuse crisis.

We are making the email available to you for your own viewing, downloading, printing and general distribution. Just click on the provided link. It details not only the homosexual nature of the sex abuse crisis but goes on to make a very serious case against ordaining men with same-sex attraction.

It goes into incredible detail, from a psychiatric perspective, of the dangers of these men in the clergy. At one point, a very telling line says, "Priests should be screened for homosexuality by their bishops or religious superiors prior to being considered for a position of responsibility in a diocese, religious community, or in the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops."

That conclusion raises the very serious question of just how Msgr. Jeffrey Burrill is now the pastor of a La Crosse, Wisconsin, parish. He was just made pastor by his bishop, William Callahan. Callahan is the same bishop who kicked out Fr. James Altman for saying Democrats can't be voted for because they kill children, and the pandemic was a scam.

It is much needed.

And finally it has arrived, at long last — what should be the day of reckoning for the communists who have seized so much control of the country and wreaked so much havoc on America.

If there is insufficient cheating (because they always cheat, but if it is insufficient), today should mark the beginning of the "great pushback."

If it goes as expected and the communist Democrats are halted and even forced to retreat (if only for a while), note that by no means is this final victory. It's not even close. But you have to secure your first major win somewhere and today may as well be that day.

Now for Catholics, especially those who do not see the importance of politics from a spiritual and theological point of view, here's what you need to wrap your minds around — and pretty quickly.

There is an all-out war going on between the forces of darkness who have complete control of one political party and partial control over the other.

Long ago, the war was lost on the philosophical ground when giant agenda items like "what is truth?" were simply ceded — surrendered to the notion that everyone's opinion is equally valid. No, all opinions are not equal and they should not be treated as though they are.

Then we lost the war over morality, so evident today in even the GOP that just warmly embraces sodomy as marriage.

Now we are in a pitched battle in the political arena — the last remaining line before all-out civil war. If you love peace and don't want to see violence, then you better get involved on the political front.

Because they don't truly love.

Before we begin, if I may ask you to say a prayer for my father and his eternal rest. Russ Voris would have been 93 today. God bless you, Dad.

And speaking of fathers, many spiritual fathers we have are an absolute disgrace and need to be called out left, right and center. The Irish have a term for such men — wastrels — one who expends resources foolishly and self-indulgently.

No one on the planet fits that definition more so than the U.S. bishops. Why? Because of the tremendous spiritual resources they have at their disposal, owing to their office. Yet time and time again, they squander those resources, refuse to tackle evil head-on and do nothing to protect the innocent.

But just as disturbing is the crowd of enablers who rush to the defense of these men because they, the bishops, are considered "orthodox." That word — orthodox — is treated as though it covers a multitude of sins. It does not. Not even close. Being privately orthodox is meaningless for a bishop if he does next to nothing to defend and advance the Faith.

It is of little consequence if he sits in his room and prays his Rosary and his daily Office, but goes out and withers in the face of evil. But it seems he can always count on the professional Catholics around him to make up excuses for him and say his life is tough and the decisions are tough and on and on.

First, there is no such thing as a tough decision when it comes to doing the right thing. What's "tough" is working up the courage to deal with the consequences. Admittedly, that may be tough. But the decision is not tough. Not even close. The decision is never tough.

Likewise, it might take a minute to collect all the data and information. But once that's done, the decision is always guided by the simple question, What's the right thing to do?

But today's weak, cowardly, revolting bishops — and for clarity, we mean the ones being defended by those around them for being orthodox — these bishops don't know how to even spell courage.

...

Yet, in a number that says it all, the vast majority of bishops have a much higher opinion of themselves. Go figure. Brain-dead, out-of-touch, tone-deaf egomaniacs. Completely self-centered, self-absorbed.

No one likes weirdos.

The latest numbers have been compiled regarding U.S. Catholics. If you thought they were bad 10 years ago, then just wait.

For comparison, let's look first at those 2012 numbers. For the record, these are the official numbers of the U.S. bishops. In 2012, there were about 97 million Americans who said they had been Catholic at some point in their lives. Of those 97 million 10 years ago, 74 million continued identifying as Catholic.

That translates into nearly 25% who no longer claimed to be Catholic. About 18 million of those 74 million went to Mass each week, with about one-quarter of those still identifying as Catholic and about 19% of those who had at some time been Catholic.

OK, fast-forward to today — 2022, 10 years later. Same categories.

First, there are 87 million Americans claiming to have been Catholic at some time in their lives. This is 10 million fewer than in 2012, a drop of a cool million every year. Of these 87 million, 73 million still identify as Catholic. This is almost unchanged from 10 years ago.

That translates into 17% of the much smaller overall pool who no longer claim their Catholic identity. And of those 73 million still self-identifying, 17 million go to Mass each week — again, like 10 years ago, a little less than a quarter.

However — and there is always a however — this is a self-reverential analysis by the bishops. What they do not factor in is the growing U.S. population and the number of Catholics relative to the population.

In 2012, the total U.S. population was 308 million. People who had been Catholic at some time in their lives was 97 million — about 31%. In 2022, the total U.S. population stands at about 331 million, and people who had been Catholic at some time in their lives about 87 million — a drop to 26%.

The U.S. population growth, while absolutely slowing, is still outstripping Catholics.

In short, whatever "evangelization" efforts the bishops think are working are cratering. In fact, it has gotten so bad that popular culture is making fun of the whole sorry scene.

A stupid, slightly vulgar yet popular animated series from a few years back called "Beavis and Butthead" tells the tale of the ineptitude of the tone-deaf efforts on the part of the clergy to bring in new sheep.

Unlike in former centuries, too much of the clergy is almost completely out of touch with everyday people.

Changing emphasis changes purpose.

The so-called "Liturgy wars" are raging in the Church these days. Frankly, most Catholics don't have the slightest idea that they are even happening, or for that matter, what the Liturgy wars even are.

For the record, a decent way of understanding the concept is that the Liturgy — the Mass and other formal prayers of the Church — not only gives worship to God, but at the same time sums up and expresses what the Church believes. Therefore, the words, gestures and postures have a dual purpose. If you change or alter one, you necessarily change or alter the other. If, for example, you dumb down the words used to give glory to God, you will necessarily dumb down people's awareness of God's majesty, sovereignty and so forth.

Dumb-downed Liturgies, in short, dumb down people's faith because their intellects become dulled.

Now, why is there a war in the Church going on over this (perhaps best summed up generally as the raging battle between the Latin Mass adherents, a decided minority, and the supporters of the Novus Ordo Mass, translated as the New Order of the Mass)? In short, those who support and likely attend the Latin Mass, generally speaking, are aware that the New Mass has certain deficiencies in how it speaks to and about God. Those deficiencies do not cancel the efficacy of the Mass. They don't make the consecration not happen. They don't invalidate the Mass. But that's not the point, whether the Mass is valid or not.

With the exception of breakaway schismatic groups like the SSPX, which actually labels the New Mass "evil," no reasonable minds in the Catholic world spout that idiocy. However, that does not mean that just because it's valid, everything is OK and there are no problems with it. This is where things start to get somewhat into the weeds, because huge numbers of Catholics have a poor understanding of liturgy, both in its purpose and effect. However, for those who do grasp this extremely important point about the importance of liturgy, there is a massive battle raging.

In short, there are those on the spiritually bereft side who actively seek to water down the Faith and replace its objective meaning with a more emotion-based understanding. They don't like or support, and in some obvious cases don't believe, Catholic teaching. They want the Church to be something other than She has always been, and so, in an effort to water things down, they water down the Liturgy. It's a pretty ingenious way, in fact, to accomplish their means.

Since Catholics who supposedly believe the Faith attend Mass, if they can present a dumbed-down Mass then they can create a dumbed-down laity. They have been largely successful. In clear terms, why would a Catholic attending watered-down Masses for most or all of his life develop any authentic sense of the Eucharist, the need for confession, and so forth?

No soldier goes into battle unprepared and untrained.

If you haven't noticed yet, then you need to soon — there is a war going on, and it is a war to the death. Two giant armies are marshaling their forces. When all of this is done, only one side will be left standing.

In short, it is evil versus God. Period. Even the Marxist media have picked up the theme, with their nonstop propaganda about Christian nationalism. While it is sad that it has come to this, it has to be accepted and embraced. Whether this is the beginning of the final battle on earth or just the final battle of this age we do not know. Frankly, it does not matter. What matters is that you join the war.

Every spiritual good, every divine utterance and every moral virtue is under assault by the purveyors of evil. Every institution has been perverted or nearly perverted: law, medicine, education, the arts, the media, government, the military and, yes, even — most importantly — religion. Make no mistake that the supreme target is the complete refashioning of the Catholic Church. To the extent that leaders in the Church fail to recognize this and act accordingly, they will have to answer to Almighty God when they die, or perhaps even before they die.

The Marxists will not stop until, through whatever means they can — violence, law, politics, social engineering, all of them — they force the Catholic Church to either embrace or surrender to their agenda of evil. But this will never happen. The sun will never rise on the day that the Church accepts child murder, euthanasia, sodomite marriage and the whole list of these wicked ends.

How San Diego's bishop covered up satanic ritual abuse.

Bishop Robert McElroy, the American prelate about to receive one of the highest honors in the Church — the red hat — knowingly covered up satanic ritual abuse. In this Special Report, Christine Niles uncovers never-before-seen evidence exposing a diabolical network in the heart of the Church.

Church Militant's newest addition.

If you even remotely follow Church Militant, you are aware of our devotion to Our Blessed Mother. While the name of the apostolate is St. Michael's Media, we have also consecrated ourselves and our work here to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We make that consecration every day in our chapel, during morning prayer. And just so you know, the prayer book we have published is available for sale, if you would like. Just go onto the site, and click on the store. We recently updated it.

Now, as you know, our main stage here in the studio is dominated by an awesome statue of St. Michael, the patron of this apostolate. That statue is one of the earliest purchases we made, 16 years ago. And he sat on the stage of our original show, The One True Faith, for every taping. When we eventually moved him to his current home on this stage, we said, "We need Our Blessed Mother in the opposite corner!"

So almost nine months ago, we placed our order. A few days ago, she arrived. We unveiled her on Church Militant Evening News a couple of nights ago. And in case you missed that broadcast, we'd like to show you us, unveiling Mommy.

And only going to get hotter.

Temperatures are rising in India, and we aren't talking about man-made climate change. For the corrupt Cdl. Oswald Gracias — extremely close to Pope Francis, in fact — they're beginning to boil. Earlier this week, following a series of reports by our Rome correspondent, Dr. Jules Gomes, where a secret phone recording was leaked to Church Militant showing His Eminence engaging in an attempt to control bad news about a bishop he's trying to cover for, one of the most respected judges on the planet, Michael Saldanha, issued a legal notice to the cardinal for libel.

The notice is in response to Gracias' video statement saying Church Militant "mischievously edited" the tape of the phone recording, which, of course, we did not. We cut it down for length, a standard media practice. In the judge's legal notice, he tells Gracias to step down — as in resign — before he brings irreparable harm to the Church.

The most salient part, which the Vatican will hone in on, is from paragraph six:

"When the cardinal goes on record to use the word "mischievously" edited, he is inviting a libel action for damages, which could not be less than $100 million because he represents the Church, and the Church can easily afford to pay it, apart from a prosecution. As a person who knows the law and the facts, I need to caution the Church that this action has been invited and that it would be defenseless in any part of the world."

Now, for the record, this information has just come to us, and we are not experts at libel law in India, but we may very well become so. Various parts of India were already in an uproar over this case, and, now, the pressure is mounting daily. The focus of the two-year-old secret phone call was Bishop K.A. William and his purported string of children from at least five different mistresses. As calls mounted for him to take a paternity test, the Vatican had to step into the quagmire as well as Gracias, urging William to take the DNA test.

And they are destroyers.

The absolute bane of Western civilization is weak men, losers who are so self-absorbed that they are content to watch an entire way of life crumble so they can get off on their wealth or porn or power trips or whatever. They wouldn't know the meaning of the word "sacrifice" — as in for others — if it bit them in the face.

And there is certainly no shortage of weak men in the Church. In fact, some of the most Catholic qualities associated with strength were tossed out of the Church by the emasculated gang. Things like discipline and willpower have come to be viewed almost with derision by the sissies in charge of large parts of the Church these days. And because leaders in the Church mock and despise and turn their backs on these qualities, so too does the culture.

Now, masculinity itself is viewed as toxic. Manhood is a bad thing. The madness has even permeated large parts of the male half of the race, even down to how many males speak — especially younger males — which stands to reason, since they are the ones who have been the most indoctrinated with the idea that all masculinity is toxic. They have adopted a feminine cadence, a "girl-sounding" voice, a grating, purposely non-masculine manner of speech, all in an effort to reject their masculinity, even down to how they pronounce their words.

Protecting a 'deadbeat dad' bishop.

When members of the hierarchy are flat-out busted lying, what they do afterward is even more shameful. By now, if you follow any of this, you know the cast of cardinals Pope Francis has assembled around him as his inner circle looks more like a rogues gallery from a blockbuster Bollywood movie than anything resembling apostolic leaders whose first concern is your eternal fate.

Take, for example, the international brouhaha that has erupted over the deceit emanating from India's Cdl. Oswald Gracias — one of Francis' closest advisers. The center of the scandal, or should we say the former center of the scandal, was one Bp. K.A. William of the Mysore diocese. According to locals, Bp. William has been on something of a tear in his diocese, fathering children left and right, and, as it turns out, is a nominee for the "deadbeat dad of the year" award.

It's so bad that priests are writing to Pope Francis and calling the Indian nuncio and Cdl. Gracias, saying William has to go. The clamor got so loud that even the laity began demanding DNA paternity tests, and that's where Gracias stepped in. Two years ago, he had a phone call with William where he counseled him to have the paternity tests, but — and this is a big "but" — he (the cardinal) would shepherd the entire operation and do massive damage control.

Gracias said he would have the tests done at a Catholic hospital, St. John's College. That way, full control could be exerted over how the case would be handled when the results came back. It is clear Gracias sought to control every aspect of this scandal. That, in fact, is the very purpose of the phone call between him and Bp. William. That phone call was two years ago, but, as fate would have it, a secret recording of it was leaked to Church Militant, and we released the damning evidence two weeks ago in a number of reports from our overseas correspondent Dr. Jules Gomes, headquartered in Rome.

The temperature got so hot under Gracias's seat, that, this past weekend, he actually had to release a video where he denied he had any bad intentions and, moreover, that Church Militant had maliciously edited the audio recording. Well, as the old saying goes, we think his eminence doth protest too much. It is perfectly normal for media operations to edit down the length of audio or video files because people don't have the time to watch the full recording — in this case, almost an hour.

But who would run it?

800 years ago, in 1232, Pope Gregory IX established an ecclesiastical tribunal whose chief aim was the rooting out of heresy. Bring back the Inquisition but with one caveat: Most, virtually all, of the current hierarchy is not allowed to serve on it. Indeed, certain hierarchs would be the objects of the tribunal, not the inquisitors.

The point of the inquisitions (plural, because there were different ones, and the Protestants had their own after the revolt in the 16th century) was to not just bring a heretic back from his ways, but failing that, to prevent him spreading his errors to others. Seen in that light, the Inquisition was largely about justice. Innocent souls have a right to the truth and a right to be protected from falsehoods.

That was the driving force behind the Church's Inquisitions. That is why we need them back again, removed from any taint of the hierarchy, because it is precisely from certain hierarchs that the innocent need to be protected. Viewed again from the perspective of justice, we can't think of anything other than an Inquisition to mete it out properly. The complicit, cowardly bishops, as well as the crooked and corrupt ones, will not confront those who bring a scourge to the people of God.

Words (don't) have meanings.

What is substantially different between the Nazi Party or the Communist Party and the Democratic Party? The Democrats are contemporary communists — period. Calling them mere socialists is way too kind, not to mention a bit of an insult to socialists everywhere. And it tells you the state of the U.S. hierarchy, that not one of them is willing to stand up and condemn these killers. And yes, they are killers.

Whether it's from abortions or inoculations, they are killers. And now they have their sights set on religion, specifically. Vastly underreported, if at all, is this little nugget.

Within the Biden State Department is the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor. Last year, Biden's DRL launched a grant program aimed at "protecting and defending the religious freedom of atheists, humanists, nonpracticing and nonaffiliated." Since when does religious freedom incorporate those who reject religion? Or has the definition of that been changed as well, along with "recession" and "woman" and "pregnant" and "chest feeder" and so forth?

The point of the half-million dollar grants, referred to as "expected outcomes" for use in poor countries in Asia predominantly, is to help institute a globalist view of religion where atheism is protected. Particularly for atheists, the program seeks "increased capacity among members of atheist and heterodox individuals to form or join networks or organizations."

It's a pilot program designed to test the waters, so to speak, to see what works best in terms of asserting atheism as on par with religion — so on par, in fact, that it's actually counted as a religion. Religions universally believe in God (theism). Atheism universally rejects God. That's the definition and the difference — theism versus atheism. But then again, we know that definitions don't really mean what they used to, at least not in D.C. and in the communist Democratic Party.
