haven't tried it yet, and even though that game is highly rated i can tell that at least 50% of these highly raved about games are people just going along with the crowd. and i've been bitten before by wasting my time with games that people said were good and weren't. like enter the gungeon and the binding of isaac. enter the gungeon is said to be the BEST roguelite and i would put it near the bottom isaac is botched potential, but serious sam tormental does it right. nuclear throne is a good competitor as well.
and i know this is an unpopular opinion but i didn't like reddit redemption 2 at all. controls sucked, gameplay was run of the mill and nothing special, the random happenings and range of things you could do was neat but i fucking raged when they had you do that bear mission and the recipe menu is all fucked up and it's not clear how to make it or what I'm supposed to do (i'm starting to forget what was actually wrong with that part because it's been so long), and while i was sitting there fucking with the ingredients i was thinking "is the game doing this on purpose to try and make me walk somewhere and i'm going to get 'surprise' attacked by the bear?" sure enough. i walk away to leave the mission because i fully intended to not do it anymore and i would just quit the game if i got to a point where i had to do it and the game wouldn't progress, and this giant bear jumps out from behind a rock that wasn't even big enough to cover it, and the game did some gay quick time event with a faggy cinematic view and i died which doubly pissed me off. then what triply pissed me off was that i lost my cowboy hat (which was one of the main reasons i was playing the game; i wanted to play a cowboy western game), then what quadrulely pissed me off was the map did not fill out where i had traveled to get into the place. then i got x5 pissed off because i didn't have my horse and the world is fucking boring as shit and then the game told me "you are cold, go change clothes back at the camp". no. just fucking no. i could never follow the map in the first place and every time i got to camp i accidentally ended up there, and i stopped caring about cosmetics in games when i was a kid because the game always erased my progress after i put all that time into customizing it. and again......... change clothes because "you are cold". no. i'm not doing that and that better not affect the fucking gameplay in any way. i even turned on cheats in that piece of shit game to bypass that incredibly gay core system and incredibly gay travel time between locations (and i turned on invincibility to make sure no gay random events would kill me while i was 10x the game speed to fast forward through the traveling). the game isn't fun to me, i'm not a graphics fag so that does nothing for me, and the SJW shit in the game was a dealbreaker.
and for that reason it seems not quite finished to me. i didn't play it enough though to make a real assessment, but i did sense that there is no point to the game. game like that need to have a campaign, then let the players go wild with functionality
