I don't know what it is going to take. We didn't need Rubio to tell this story to know that Israel calls the shots and we follow.
The problem is people know, and we don't do anything about it. You can point this out to most X'ers and Boomers, and the best you get is a look of brief contemplation followed by that implicative expression: "Okay, I'm not interested in that point anymore," and most likely, a topic slide. All they have to be reminded of politically is that Israel is our 'ally' and that's enough. At that point, it's just good business. We're the good guys, and we're doing right by our allies. That's enough because most people don't have a tick's dick-worth of historical background, and the notion that 'all the other sandy/Muslim/oil nations' are (sorta) enemies is just plausible enough for the alleged allied relation with Israel to fill in the gaps. "It's a highly contested area of the world."
As much as these 'curtain drops' make people like us fume, they just aren't that surprising in the bigger picture, and we can't expect them to make significant waves as long as: people are generally still convinced that the US government stands for the good guys of the globe. That makes it too fucking easy for our internal political disputes to get sublimated to the overall picture that we're still the zenith of democratic morals and military-industrial stability holding the world order together.
Seeing Rubio's comments for what they really signify requires a complete worldview teardown that at least a few successive generations seem invulnerable to experiencing. I mean complete ossification; and part of it (which I think explains deeper aspects of our present generational divide) has to do with becoming cynical. The right view requires a level of cynicism that these folks cannot tolerate. Why? If I had to guess, it's because it impacts not just your political views: it changes your life, changes you as a person and your whole capacity for the diffuse American optimism they grew up immersed in.

I don't doubt you. That's a thing, isn't it. People my age and younger have no resilience, while I do perceive the older generations to have much greater stress resilience. If we combined all the good qualities from all of them, we might have a respectable human being, haha. These are broad brush strokes, of course. There are non-delusional Boomers, and there are Millennials with a lot of fortitude.
fair enough. I get angry with the x links because I can't see replies since I don't have an account. I notice you always include all the links which is very thoughtful. I will try to do better next time.
This is like being stuck in a boat with a crazed asshole who is intentionally luring a huge shark to you. At some point, you kick their ass overboard and let them drown dealing with the bullshit they caused.
Not when it comes to this, though. Apparently, we have some sort of OFFENSIVE MILITARY PACT with these fucking rats. It'd be far less crazy to rush to your "ally's" defense if THEY were attacked. But Israel is able to wield the entire might of the US military simply by attacking their neighbor. This is such an absurd situation, I wonder if there will be any mutinies.
I don't know what it's like in the military now, but I've heard that zoomers have no problem "standing up to the brass" and they have "low tolerance for abuse". That's a combination that equals insubordination at least, and straight up mutinies at most.
I like this logic. A pre-emptive strike to minimize the damage Israel causes. If we take that to its logical extreme, I think we attacked the wrong country.
