Once again, it's time for the FNGT!If you don't know how this works,
click this link. That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should upgoat go down.
NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, ask a regular participant (such as @Sleazy or myself).
If you already know what's going on, you probably don't need to click any of those links. You can still visit to see if any changes have been made, as that's also where we kept the archives and have a second forum.
By the way, we're down to just two of us. If you want to help, let us know.

Normally, I take the entire month of January off. I reserve that month for me (and some local friends and family). However, I'm not doing anything special tonight. I might go take a few dollars from some pool players, but that's not too important. They're friends and family, so it's okay to make small bets with them. You play better when there's something on the line.
Not only am I not taking tonight off, I'm trying a new host for my MP3 files. We'll see how that goes.
That means this is not a new song, but it's a fun song:
Black Sabbath - Iron Man
As you can see, it has the basic features one might need. That's all I really need, and it's plenty of space. It's also not too expensive to upgrade to more space than I could ever use (for music recordings). However, the bone stock free plan looks like it'd actually last for many years.
But, it lets you stream the file and download the file. That's all the features we need. It seems to work quite well. We'll have to see what it's like over the next year or two, but 20 GB is a buttload of space for files that often aren't even 10 MB in size.
Anyhow, rock on, Goats! Rock on!

My archives have, to date, a bit under 500 tracks.
One Mega account is going to last for many years. Figure that it took 8 years to hit 500 files, then it'll probably take somewhere close to 24 years to reach 2000 files.
Yeah... That's a lot of storage for small MP3 files.

It's too goddamned bad that we live in a religious country, with laws that are aimed specifically at appeasing religious people. I know you agree with me. Should my quality of life go down to the point where I don't want to live it, I should damned well be allowed to die with dignity and medical professionals should help with that.
(I do not plan on dying any time soon.)
But, yeah... Mega will give me enough space for the next 24 years.
Plus, it lets people listen to it and download it. They can even click a button to save it to their own Mega account.
I really don't think my listeners need any more features than that. Can you think of any additional features?
I haven't checked, but it might even show album art.
Hell, you go through SoundCloud accounts pretty quickly. (I've largely just paid for my storage over the years. However, I was already paying those hosting bills, so it didn't add much of an expense.)
Maybe you should give Mega a shot? (Don't feel obligated to do so, I'm just recommending them.)
There are two features that are 'nice to have', but I don't need them. There's no way to comment on my tracks, except for here in the thread. The Mega site does not have statistics, so I do not know how many people listened to my track or how many people downloaded the track.
In reality, I don't need those features. Folks can comment here, and I don't actually care how many people listened to a track.
If you care about those two things, or if there's some feature on SoundCloud that I don't know about, then you probably don't want to go to Mega. But Mega is an option if you're looking for a bunch of free space that will last you years and years with a single account. You won't have to play revolving emails. There won't be any realistic limits for at least a decade and a half.
You can also do mass uploads. You can grab your entire library and sync it to Mega all at once.
In fact, I might do just that. I can load them all into a folder called 'archives'. Then, when I share them, I can just move them to the correct folder and share them at that point. That way, even if I'm not home, I can trivially grab a file, move it to the right folder, and then share it to the thread without any fuss or muss.
That sounds like a good idea -- and I have a whole lot of bandwidth.
(I might be marching in Bolivia today. Shh!)
Speaking of bandwidth, I can download a 2 GB torrent in like 5 minutes. Yeah... It's awesome. I might upgrade to faster internet, but maybe not.
Also, the days are getting longer. My shortest day of the year is 8h 44m. I already have more than 9h 5m of daylight. (Your days are about as long as mine, just a bit shorter - like a few minutes shorter, so nothing significant.)
Gotta say, I do love the Bolivian army.
Things I just learned: Bolivia has Marines. They are, like here in the US, a department of the Navy. However, Bolivia is landlocked. They don't border the ocean on any side. Yet, they have a Navy. (Their naval forces deal with stuff inland, on inland water ways.)
And, yes, the Marines are a department of the Navy. The Marines are an amphibious force and tasked with protecting Navy vessels (less so today). They're the amphibious part of the US Navy. Otherwise, the Navy would only be able to sit in the ocean and fire at the shore (historically).
So, yes, when I was a Marine and got my pay check, it said "Department of the US Navy" on it.
Also, the Marines don't have their own medics or anything like that. They use medical services from the US Navy. More specifically, the Marines have a 'corpsman' who takes care of their health in the field.
If you ever see a movie with a Marine calling for a medic, the are wrong. Marines do not have medics, they have a corpsman, for whom they will fight and die for. We're proud of our corpsman, so that's who we yell for when we've just had our legs taken out by a mine.
Actually, if your legs are taken out by a mine, you don't yell for help. You yell 'minefield!'. That way, people don't rush to your area to save you. They know to clear a path to you and not rush in.
Man, am I high as balls today.
My 'marching powder' has been cooked up, and I've been smoking for like six hours.

You dont usually cook it up do you?I dont think so.
2GB downloaded in 5 minutes would be plenty to make me happy
What does biff think about you being all fucked up? Is she laughing at you

It's not like I'm going crazy with the stuff. I still have a giant chunk remaining from the last time I picked up. As you know, I like to buy in bulk. I also get a good price when I buy in bulk. I don't think I'll share what 'bulk' means in an open forum, because the feds have certain weights where they start to get involved, even if it's purely for personal consumption. Let's just say that I haven't picked up a kilo in a long time, so it's definitely not that much.
Actually, I can get a K delivered to me for $24,000. If I was a dealer, you could make mad loot with that. If you sold it at a $100 a gram, that'd be a profit of $76,000!
(I'm definitely NEVER going to do that. I do not care how much money you could make. My freedom is pretty important.)
Also, the missus doesn't mind. I don't behave that much differently, except I tend to get focused on one single task and I tend to babble. Man, I will talk your ear off. When we're done talking, I'll start talking again. I will talk about anything and everything. Though, sometimes (if I'm REALLY high), my brain will be working faster than my mouth and some of what I say will seem disjointed, unless you know me and how my brain tends to work. In which case, I'll make perfectly good sense -- especially if you're also just as high.
The missus would probably mind if it turned into an addiction. For that, I do not blame her. I'd be pretty annoyed if she got addicted to something like coke. She's worried about addiction, so stays away from the harder stuff. She will take a couple of hits off a joint or eat an edible. She might do that once or twice a year. She does drink, but seldom drinks to excess. She drinks a bit like me, except less often.
