Reminds me of movies/games where time is frozen, but you don't want to start it moving again because it would be a calamity. If they thawed the water than it would further saturate everything and keep leaking.

It literally dropped below freezing one time here in the early 90s. My friend who was away wanted me to check on his place. When I got out of my 4runner, I knew that already hearing rushing water was not going to turn out well.
Water pipes were in the ceiling of the first floor, with bedrooms in the basement below. No longer freezing, so the whole ceiling came down and water poured out the front door when I opened it.
