In short, WTF is this for?

Generally batteries are used to power things not connected to the grid.

Thanks, that was short however, what do/does this battery specifically designed for?

There must be some sort of special application.

Ah ok, specifically what Lifepo batteries are for.... Whatever you want.

Lots of people use them in small solar systems like a camper or a small boat, or a shed, whatever you can think of. 12v systems are good for up to about 2,000w. After that the cables needed get way too big and it makes more sense to switch to 24v or even 48v.

That battery chemistry can be used from 100% to 0%, daily, for 10+ years. But it can't charge when frozen/freezing, and it doesn't like being above ~100f, so insulation/heating can be a consideration. It's also the safest to use(outside a lab) so far.

Dude in the video cut the top off to show you what's going on inside it.

He's actually a wealth of information for anyone interested in off grid power systems. He tests and reviews just about every product available for building a solar system or battery backup.
I've learned a lot from him about how to properly configure and maintain my solar system
