I've never ruled it out, but I don't categorically subscribe to that theory. Partially because I don't like using phrasing invented to make the message-bearer sound insane.

Generally I've always been of the opinion that PP arose naturally because defense, propaganda, and hollywood, are more tightly coupled than they at first appear, and people talk at parties, people leak, and part of what makes creatives creative, is thinking outside the overtons window. So theres a lot of guys out there, smart guys, floating around, with ideas and models about how the world 'really works', but unless you think like this too, it is hard to convey those tropes in an understandable manner, you just can't, precisely because the rational-descriptive of them toes the line between genius and insanity, in the same way inspiration and insight hit people without explanation. The greeks had a word for the biblical idea of 'revelation', and its probably the same underlying psychological process, but I digress.

So what do these guys do? Reveal the truth with a lie, a fiction. Now most of it is probably wrong, and often is, but enough of it models some sliver about how the world actually works, that it is useful enough to be suggestion, or else prediction.

And so it happens because it is either a suggestion, or a useful prediction--"creating the future, by predicting it" as it were.

Movie making, story writing, in this case, is in some sense, the ultimate expression therefore of closing the circle between the alienated and their intimate union with the potential futures unconsciously inherent in their unusual modes of thinking.

Like the monad that created itself, their understanding of the potential future, is what creates the alienation, and drives them to express it as something which influences that very end. And because of this ambiguity in prediction or creation, in extrapolation of how the world works, versus how it might--it gives rise to the very first hints and inklings of such futures and models, as well as the people that first conceive of them--ends which are their own cause, a sort of retro-causality.

Having masturbated enough with words though, I've seen enough of how things work to say, at least some of what we are seeing is very likely deliberate. And that contrary to the derision of those who say "huhuhuhuhu so you're saying MEN IN SMOKEY BACK ROOMS CONTROL THE WORLD? LIKE A TINY CABAL!? THAT COULD NEVER HAPPEN", I have come to the conclusion that is the very fact of the matter.

Neoliberalism has less than thirteen years to live so it doesn't even matter. Instead of solving something thats already solved, we should focus on identifying the names and faces of those who have tried for almost 70 years to murder the world.

They have relied on our cognitive dissonance to prevent us from acknowledging the truth we could see with our eyes but not accept. They where mocking us.

It's closer to the intersection of information theory and socialogy, than black magic.

It is definitely some sort of psychological science whose papers are not published, and whose findings are not widely shared.

There is a certain mechanism to it, even a social theory to be sure, its just not a public field of study because at some point someone decided the conclusions that followed from edward barneys, the scientific FIELDS that surely were derived from whatever this is that we're talking about, and from his own field, were so effective, so dangerous, that they constituted some sort of social-equivalent to the atom bomb: a means of near limitless, near total control. And whatever decades of research that surely followed, whatever advancements, would have been ruthlessly and utterly covered up, held in private institutes, destroyed, or suppressed from any outsider knowledge.

It should be everyones endeavor to reconstruct this unknown field of psychology and sociology, whatever it may be called. it should be the "commons" equivalent of the Manhattan project, to discover the mechanisms of mass manipulation, the right formation and correct psychological conditioning of societies, and the operant means and modes of doing so, and not only that, but of spreading this education as far and wide as possible.
