Enough talk about what you got for Christmas. Tell me what you *gave*.

Me? I gave about $160 worth of hair care products so my mother and sister could stop shaving/cutting spots in their hair because one is elderly and the other just has completely shit hair. I gave a pair of Darn Tough Socks to my brother in law (they have a "we replace it for life" policy). I gave my niece Hogwarts Legacy because she's a hardcore Potter fan.

Lots of gifts for lots of people. For older brother I've wrapped @ 20 things. My favorite was an old stained wood rasp that my late mom had bought for him years ago with her last few precious dollars so he could shape a toy car for a cub scouts race. It's wrapped but he hasn't seen it and opened it yet. He needs to drive in from a few hundred miles away. Party starts when he and his wife arrive.

My wife, as usual, got jewelry. I looked forever for a 1+ caret colored diamond ring I'd bought a few years back and couldn't find it or remember where I'd put it. Thought I had it in the strongbox in the gun safe. Kept getting sidetracked looking and oiling weapons that I need to get out and practice with more often. This year was less than most for her but it was a substantial and remarkable 1.39 caret Yellow-Green Sapphire ring with a GIA appraisal.

Best part, in the conversation as she opened it she remarked how much she liked the colored diamond ring I'd given her last year, LOL, then when she put it away in one of her little jewelry squirrel pouches she stores in her safe, she found her social security card that she had torn the house up looking for. AND she noted: "I think I'm getting over jewelry for presents, you don't have to buy me anymore." Sadly, that presents a conundrum to me as its the easiest gift to find and buy for anyone every Christmas.

BTW, since I'm not going to be doing it anymore apparently, the secret is to find an auction house that specialize in rich folks estates. We'd swing by and preview and wife would have a ball going through the whole jewelry case, looking, trying on, and remarking on things she liked. I'm note the auction numbers of items she'd favor, and then, in the privacy of home when she wasn't around, research and make offers on multiple things. I use to buy the auction catalog but now it's on the internet for free. Go slow at first until you have prices dialed in and you know what a bargain is. I figured it this way: if there was an apprasial for $10,000 say, then that price would have gone for @$5-6 thousand in a store, and possible half that at fire sale. So anything $2500 or below I would consider a worthwhile and decent price. If there was a lot of stuff being auctioned, I might offer $900 for that piece. Bid on 3 or 4 and might get nothing. So you move on and just do the same at the next auction when it comes up.

From my wife's viewpoint it was awesome as we got to go "shopping" every month for some damned expensive stuff. She's a saver, not a spender and would never buy crap like that for herself, but she loves getting it. I'm gonna miss the little game we've been playing and I suspect that she will as well.

I gave my family quail I hatched, raised and butchered.

Nice Breeder! Great gift, would be near impossible to buy and throughout the year everytime they cook one up they think good thoughts about you.

I actually totes jealous on that one. I helped my sister make jerky from scratch because she'd never done it and wanted to make a batch for her daughter. We got some london broil, sliced it up, soaked in a marinade overnight, popped into the air fryer for 6 hours. Totally delicious and saved her a bunch of money now and in the future.

Not a lot, as I don't communicate with a lot of family. I'm semi disowned.

The Stem nephew got a new laptop. Mom and dad got an invite to the BVI's to come sail for a week with me. My cousin, who is practically my brother, got music lessons for their kids. They asked for that.

Alzheimer's grandma got a photo of us from when I was three and we were planting. She actually remembered that.

I ain't gave shit. I don't celebrate the holiday. I give my wife gifts all year long. I'll be literally god damned if I get caught up in this bullshit Kikery of a holiday.

I gave a SteamDeck to my nephew. Everyone else got cash. Cash is king.

I give all year round, no need to be particularly generous on a specific day.

But around the time of each holiday I throw in a bit extra for my loved ones and contribute a little more when I'm doing my volunteer work.

I was in a mood to buy a girl some upscale clothes I thought were attractive and I had an extra premium smart watch I wanted to give a girl and a trip I wanted to go on with someone (it was only worth it if I could take a female companion).

But that didn't happen. Oh well I guess. Funny to me to think that women definitely want all this treatment I'm offering and unknowingly missed the opportunity.

I sad "gift," not curse. Trust me on that, not even my worst enemies.
