Christmas is a special time of year. For some it's about giving, others it's nice distraction from reality, many it's celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, or maybe all 3. For a small group of people out there it also marks the death of something important to them. Something that was many things. A place of amazing, funny and interesting people. An idea that speech should be unrestricted and unrestrained . A connection to media and content free from the propaganda embedded everywhere else. Voat was more than just a website. For me personally it was my daily red pill, my escape from clown world, the dose of reality I needed to remain cool calm and collected in world which has gone off the rails.
But Voat's demise has given opportunity to a new beginning, and when you boil everything away that's what Christmas is all about. A change from the old to the new. And having us here together is the best gift I could ask for. Endless laughs, smiles, WTFs, and head shaking. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
You've made this past year a fun and interesting experience, and I look forward to what becomes of our community in 2022 and beyond.
