It’s conflicting to appreciate how amazing these monuments are and the statement they make about the culture that could conceive of it, never mind build it.
With the fact that every dollar spent on it out of the tithe, was supposed to go to feed widows and orphans, and only the offering was allowed to be used on the operation.

I’ve never been Catholic or orthodox so I’m not sure. I just assumed the churches paid for their own buildings.
And for the tithe, I havnt read the Bible in a few decades, so it’s just here say cause I can’t remember the exact verses. But a specific group of Levite priests were the only ones ever allowed to be an exception to the tithe going to feed the poor, and live off the tithe. Because god commanded them not to own land.
And in every example of a prophet or apostle in the New Testament being aided by a church, it was by taking up an offering. Ministering was always supposed to be done on top of having a job, like Paul did, or by faith the offering (that had no commanded amount) could support you.
The tithe was always supposed to be 100% charity.

Lol! I've seen a 3 million dollar church being built in the shittiest of shit ghettos. It was such a successful church that it had it's own homeless shelter a block away. These people didn't have a pot to piss in unless they robbed it from someone to get some heroin.

I'm working at this shelter one day and all of sudden there is a buzz about with people rushing outside. This PIMP, I shit you not, pulls up in this brand fucking new Lincoln wearing a silk(?) suit and hat. He rolls up onto the sidewalk from the street and pops the trunk so that the leftover bread that was donated from the local bread company could be unloaded.

A few minutes later, this brand new Jaguar pulls up onto the same sidewalk and pops it trunk. A fat mammy with a hat the size of a saddle gets out and starts directing crackheads and drunks to unload some donated pasta.

It was the reverend and his wife of the new multi million dollar church.

I stopped donating my money and time that day to places that I don't have first hand knowledge of how donations are spent.

No. Their church operated/owned the homeless shelter. Businesses(suckers) donated food for the homeless shelter because they were going to throw it out and instead got a tax deduction. The "pastor" and his wife would have to pick it up and deliver it. And what better way to deliver expired food to the trash of society in your brand new luxury car.........

I can't believe their congregation didn't just stop attending. They would have had to of known that the preachers money comes from the offering plate. Idiot people. Well? Niggers. I guess that says it all.

For over a decade I donated to St. Judes. It's kids and cancer thrown together. Totally worthy right? They'd send me a little envelope with this sad looking little kid and I'd pop a couple hundred bucks in it 3-4 times a year. Not a huge amount but still, my hard earned money.

So St. Judes is doing "well", they're adding on right. Whelp, okay why not, more space more kids treated right? Sure! Then they send me another request for donation. It seems they just need to build a space for the parents of these sick children to stay in while their kids are being treated. It's a studio apartment complex thing. A bed, table, bathroom tv and couch.

Wait? A kid has cancer, this hospital treats them for free(?) or at least at some reduced cost and they want me to donate so that the parents can live on site while their kid gets treatment? "it's good for the children and some families can't afford accommodations so that they can be near their child......."
