I love me some space shuttle

Hubble and the ISS wouldnt have been possible with out it. But considering what happened to Columbia and Challanger its hard to call the program a success.

Reusing Columbia for over 20 years was a budgetary decision, and was a bad idea.

Discovery is the best shuttle. She's my favorite

Not really, Shuttle, as futuristic and cool as it might look, is actually a gigantic fucking failure. Its ONLY real purpose was to steal satellites and bring them back intact, which never actually happened. Any program involving Shuttle would've been cheaper if Saturn 5s were used instead.

And without Nazi technology and Werner von Braun, the idiot americans would still be shitting themselves back on earth, burning astronauts to death even before launch.

Just think where we'd be if we got one of the good Nazi scientists!

We use to always take a break at school to see the launches. We were about 90 miles south, but you could still see them if you looked north when they launched. I vividly remember watching the Challenger break apart, I was with my mom in an Albertsons parking lot, which doesn't exist anymore, watching the launch. What I remember most is my mother's reaction, I was only a kid and didn't grasp what I was looking at.

Impressive, but when one considers how much money has been poured into the space program with nothing to show for it, it's a scam of pathological proportions.

At least we got a space station and Hubble out of it, in the end these programs will look bad on paper no matter what, it's basically throwing money at private industry to maintain spaceflight capability and everyone is taking advantage of it.

Good bait to draw out the fwat erf tards.

The best evidence to refute flat earth theory is the International Space Station. Not only does it beam images back to earth constantly showing that it's orbiting a sphere, but it would have to fly in a constant arc instead of a straight line if the earth was flat. A flat earth would make the ISS impossible.

I though it was going to roll and then explode. That launch is still clear in my head.
