Receiving you. Bit of static as the Cops just lobbed some gas canisters at the protesters. One didn't go off and hit a guy in the back. He's on the ground screaming. It's pandemonium. It seems the Police are using the cover of darkness to really lay into the crowd. Horses are trampling on people; protesters are throwing garbage tins at the Cops. If someone isn't killed in all this it will be a miracle. My eyes are stinging so I'm just going to take a break and tip some water on a hanky...that's better. I'd say the cops are getting the upper hand. This is real no-nonsense stuff we are seeing here in Sydney Australia, they are really taking the gloves off. Boy that was nasty. Just saw two cops pushing a protester back and back and over a seat. Hit the ground hard. Even my media colleagues are staying well away from the action. Look, ah, I'm getting out of here. I can see this really getting out of hand and just as I said that I see a squad of heavily armed riot police coming around the corner. They are beating their shields with their batons.
