The idea is that every flag old or new represents those battles fought and won. I was getting a similar feeling last night listening to the sound of fireworks going off all around me. There's no denying that when everyone is lightning off their fireworks that it sounds a little like a battle, minus the screams and wailing of the injured. It makes sense to me that we light off those fireworks to remind us of a sliver of what better men than we endured to carve this country out of violence and blood. Here I sit comfortably on the couch knowing full well the enemy has breached the gate, and I don't know what to do about it.
