they could simplify this and say pay for men. it's women that are graduating college. it's men that are skipping it and doing productive work.

There's also the rise in service-sector jobs such as waiter, burger flipper, janitor and so on to contend with.

I overheard a police officer the other day say most college graduates end up working in Starbucks

I got a political science degree and somehow, in spite of my professors' best efforts, still managed to figure out what's going on.

There is something very important to remember: they want to require college degrees for work that could be apprenticed for for many reasons, but one of them is that they can put females and non-white people in good paying positions this way. Many white 30 year old men could replace people working government jobs for 6 figures with a week or two of training.

Step one was to require degrees. Step two is to put low iq people in college. Step three is force diversity hires.

Trump tried to prefer merit over degrees for public work, but I'm sure that is over by now. But also, the idea is changing in people's heads that college educated doesn't mean anything anymore.

Name the 6 figure position or the many 6 figure positions. I understand your sentiment but this is laughable.

Employees can sidestep degree requirements with entry-level positions or other gained experience.

A bureaucrat in a county office where cost of living is high (chicago, nyc, los angeles).

I have a retired relative that worked for a city, and their pension is about 150k. I realize that that is an exception, but it gives an idea of what city workers can make. A lot of positions have the actual requirements of "be able to use email and excel. be able to attend meetings."

Do you think that 80% of voat could step in and replace lori lightfoot within a week or so? well, she is the top of the food chain and has been making 6 figures for a long time.

No. I think that being mayor of a huge city is not a job one can be prepared for with a week or two of on the job training. It’s also an elected position, not just some nameless bureaucrat.
