Why do you think Charles Lindbergh was such a sensation?

He's the male human who flew the spirit of st louis over the atlantic from the u.s. to paris. It was a 33 hour flight with just a map and compas. Which is a respectable endurance test, but I don't understand the incredible reception in Paris and then the ticker-tape parade when he get back to 1920s America.

I mean, big deal right. Why didn't they freak out over other shit like the first trans-atlantic zeplin flight or the first passenger flight. Things like that got 0 attention but Lindbergh got an off the charts reaction. I'm saying the reaction he got seems disproportionate compared to other feats in aeronautical history.

What's up with that? Were people gay for airplanes back then or what?

Powered flight was relatively new. Aeronautical daredevils and barnstormers were a big thing in that era. He was young, tall, good looking and well spoken.
Media hyped him.
He was the American hero everyone was looking for in the middle of the Great Depression.

just a showman.

because his ENGINE WAS NOT DESIGNED to run 33 hours!!!!

HE HAD TO KEEP CRAWLING OUTSIDE his plane to service the engine and add oil!!!!

He was NOT the first to fly nonstop across atlantic.

over 65 flew before him nonstop

OVER 65!!!

The first was 7 years before him : English pilots John Alcock and Arthur Whitton Brown, John’s in Newfoundland to Clifden in Ireland was realized on June 1919

in July 1919, 7 years before him, 31 more men flew across nonstop!!!!!

but none had to stay awake and crawl out onto plane to service engine, or do it solo.

over 65 flew before him nonstop

No one cares about St. Johns to Clifden. Lucky Lindy flew New York to Paris nonstop, which is like double the distance. He connected the new world with the old, solo. He showed what one man could do with sufficient technology. Before 1927 it took weeks and/or great teamwork and coordination for a trip that far. After Lindbergh a man properly equipped could do it himself in a little over a day.

Lindy also liked what Germany was becoming in the 1930's, admired their Luftwaffe, and said so publicly.

I guess Charles Lindbergh and Pluto have something in common after all. They were both overrated entities for several decades.

Because people don't like being aware that others hold no loyalty to them whatsoever. People want the blinders on because that let's them focus on the things they care about. As long as the distributed reality distortion fields are operational we can all just not give a shit because it doesn't effect us. But once those reality distortion fields start to dissipate and other people's bullshit starts effecting you then it could get ugly because we are all more deadly than ever and worse at communication and rational thinking than ever. We are teetering on a world full of retarded superheros going to war with each other. So we can see first hand of the fabric of society begins to shred when objectively bad actors prey upon the system.
