I'd say to best go with S&W M&P Shield Plus 9mm (10+1 or 13+1) or Sig Sauer P365 (10+1 or 12+1). I don't own either, I cc either a S&W M&P Shield 2.0 9mm w/ laser + Magguts (8+1) or S&W M&P Subcompact 2.0 9mm (12+1).

There's like 3 polymer framed one that lead the choices. Glock 19 gen 5 -most popular 9mm carry made. Will always go bang, Glock leads in rust resistant coatings and everybody and their dog owns one, parts will be plentiful until you are an older person. - the G26 and 43 are runners up for Glock.
Sig Sauer P365 - Smallest hi cap 9mm with slick new double stack mag. Buy it new, Sig always releases bugged version which they soon fix, this was no different. Accurate, tiny (for the rounds it holds) and now also reliable.
M & P something, forgot the model...crap...friend has it, he thinks he shoots it better than the other 2. My buddy tried most everything out there, but he's a big burly electrician, and he got something that finally fit his hands without feeling like he was gonna drop it. That could be worthwhile here for you as well, go to a range that will let you rent the pistols you have it narrowed down to.
I own a p365. Love it, it's accurate, reliable, concealable, and relatively light. 12+1 is enough to get out of trouble or cause trouble. Great little gun.

Revolvers use to be popular, and realistically if you pull up some of those rapid shooter type You Tube vids you see someone like Jerry Michlick shoot 6 highly accurate shots, pop the cylinder out and slap a new in faster than 95 percent of competent shooters could pull any hi-cap pistol out of their holster. The reason where that might be a solid positive would be that if you shoot and run, you have all your empty rounds contained and with you so that the police investigation has one less tool to hunt you down. Indeed. Saw a vid yesterday of a cop killing 3 Mexicans in a truck who had first opened fire on him. He took a round in the fingers, kept getting FTF due to limp wristnig and he also dropped the pistol at least once, maybe twice. I've never trained off hand, but I keep reading that you need to train your off hand and that cop was example #1.

If you are interested in the p365, consider the Springfield hellcat. Better choice imo. I own a 365 it’s ok. Shot a hellcat and regretted buying the 365.
Sig 938, little tack driver, bright ass night sights. Comfortable in xl hands.
S&W Model 638, shrouded hammer revolver. Nice rounded edges, won't get hung up on your clothes. Gotta put a fair amount of pressure on the trigger but not bad.
Glock 26 and 43 pretty good too, and decently priced. 43 might be too small if you've got hamhocks for fists but I've got pretty big hands and the 26 with a pinky grip on the mag is plenty comfortable for me to get a solid grip. Plus mags and aftermarket parts are pretty cheap.
I had a p238 legion, but gave it to my mom because it fit her hands and she could rack the slide. Been wanting to replace it with the 9mm version ever since.
I carry a sar k245c. It’s on the heavy end for most people as far as cc goes. I love it though. Steel cz frame with 13+1 in 45. It’s the compact version but still a beast. Love the way it fits my hand.It replaced my kimber 1911. Very nice price point even now that they’ve gone up some.The sig p365 is a great quality choice that my wife carries.

If important that it goes bang when you shoot then lots say glock but are forgetting one thing.
panic shots often include limp wristed recoil or non-domimant hand blocking the slide.
A revolver doesn't have this problem. It even goes bang in a panic
