Do senior cats need a cat tree?

submitted by Redhairin to Cats 3.0 yearsApr 30, 2021 05:38:33 ago (+5/-0)     (Cats)

I'm seeing stuff of various sites that suggest cats older than eleven years need a litter box with a low side just to get in and out. I'm buying the necessary things to adopt a senior cat, and thinking $100+ for a cat tree could be a waste of money and space. What are the chances a cat tree will be used?

What kind of treats are you using? Or do you just hit him when he pisses on the rug?

Or just buy a new sofa, or chair. Preferably leather. Always seems to work for cats I've seen.

Cats do as they please. If you get a cat tree, chances are old 11 year old kitty will be stoked to play with the box that it came in. So get him some boxes!

You never know, either way. Cats are intensely individualistic and some will love to have the tree to climb while others won't give the slightest fuck.

I had an old cat that still loved to climb. Depends on their personality. If they are a climber it wont hurt to get one.

My 13 year old cat was still able to jump up on the counter whenever it suited his purposes.

build your own cat tree. Scraps of wood, scraps of leftover carpet. Glue and or screw it all together and you got a cat tree that is much stronger than the cardboard garbage you buy at the pet store.
