We've known for over a decade that vitamin D is the most important nutrient to fighting respiratory virus infections. The fact that people were told to shelter in place, not go to outdoor events/gatherings, cover up with masks and gloves, and generally reduce their sunlight intake during a viral pandemic should have been the first clue that we were being lied to.
