I agree, Voat has a problem with the front page being stale. There shouldn't be a 3-day old story sticking around under the default "hot" view. There is the "new" view, but lots of people are unwilling to read the site that way. Some possible fixes:

- Change the algorithm for "hot" to make it fresher.

- Add a new "fresh" button as between "hot" and "new".

- Add a random story at the top of all (different for each user), and ask if people recommend it. This would help share the load of finding new good posts.

I agree. I believe the front page is working properly, just not enough people are upvoting new content, so new content doesn't get pushed up. Not sure about the solution yet.

If you put the default as displaying new instead of hot I think that would help. You could set up user accounts with an option to change that. Alternatively you could try limiting Hot to what was posted in the last 24 hours.

Something to think about or ask the users I guess.
