Hey guys

We've made it to day 30. I am very proud with how things have turned out so far. This community has been great. Lots of great posters from old voat have come over and this place is starting to feel a bit like our old home. I appreciate all of you who contribute and keep this place alive.

Traffic is really starting to pick up. We are consistently getting over 2k+ unique viewers a day, and approaching 1 million requests per day. But I am starting to notice some slow down again, so next week I plan to work on optimizing everything, and changing how comments load to be similar to other similar sites. This should reduce the load on the server and speed things up. In the meantime here are some stats:

858 accounts have been registered

3397 topics have been posted

16089 comments have been posted

43242 votes have been cast

233 subverses created

Looking forward to the next 11 months and hitting that 1 year mark. That will be the next time I update these stats. See you then :D

When I first read your announcement of a Voat clone on Searchvoat, I thought it wouldn't go anywhere. But I held my tongue, and I'm glad to say I was wrong. Initially I thought Poal was the best answer we should all rally around, but as AOU kept getting worse and worse in his antics, I stopped defending the site. It's nice to see a viable alternative take off.

Unrelated/Off-topic: But wasn't Voat's logo/name/branding copyrighted? I assume either Putt or Atko retained the rights to it-- if it wasn't included in the angel investor's purchase of OG Voat's source code.

I don't really give a shit, but I was curious as to how we were able to use it, as most people are pretty big assholes about 'their stuff'-- even if completely defunct. Did you get perms or maybe they just don't give a shit? I hadn't seen anyone ask, but I've been curious for curiosity's sake.

I don't really know. If the copyright is defended I would stop using the name, but as far as I can tell it's been abandoned and no one gives a shit. But that's partially why I set up the backup domain, in the case that does happen I could just easily switch over.

Well, I'm a boring graphic designer. I mostly design brochures, ad layouts, resize logos for clothes, some logo design, signs.

Most graphic designers also do webdesign, logo design, and branding these days.

I worked for a marketing company in a health providers office. So pretty boring. But I quit that gig after 18 years and now I'm letting my freak flag fly and seeing what I wanna do when I grow up!

Yep, I am curious as well. Mainly because I don't want this new voat to be closed down because of bullshit copyright issues. So I HOPE the old Voat team let the new guys have it.

Or is this the old Voat team starting fresh? Anybody know?

Appreciate what you've done. As things stabilize, let us know how we can help. If this keeps growing costs will explode. Cryptocurrency should always be an option, since CC is unreliable, as Voat proved.
