It's delicious. You want to drink it hard, fast, and in great quantities.

But they only give you a very small amount, in a pouch, with the world's smallest straw.

Fuck you, Capri Sun.

How do people use smartphones on the modern day internet?     (technology)

Got a new phone. It took like 3 days setting it up, way more time consuming than setting up a PC, but in the end I have a clean experience with no ads or bullshit. Full control. Just enough google malware and allowed connections to enable push notifications. But damn... to think people use these things how they come from the factory is insane.

Ads. litterally. everywhere.

You can't simply put a youtube video on and watch it. Because every few minutes an ad comes on and it STAYS ON THE SCREEN till you manually press a button to get back to the video, so waiting 30-60 seconds for the ad to end is pointless. You have to let the gods at google know you are there and physically touch your device to continue their feed of dopamine. Every 3-5 minutes. Forget multitasking or playing a video in the background.

It's everywhere, every app, every website non-stop. The amount of power and bandwidth spent sending in ads and sending out your data is criminal. Is it any better on Iphone? I doubt that. Apple fan boys are generally even worse because they're superficial. I'd take a rooted $100 Android over your $1000 iphone any day.

And most people put up with it. It's their every day experience. A new phone is like a used condom. Have some respect for yourself.

AI affirms replacement theology     (OccidentalEnclave)

Yes, while the early church believed the Jewish people were God's chosen people, their understanding of this chosenness evolved. Initially, the Jewish people were seen as God's chosen nation, but with the advent of Christianity, many Christian denominations adopted the belief that the Church, made up of believers from all nations, had now become God's chosen people.

Elaboration:

Early Church Perspective:

The early church, including those Jewish Christians who were part of it, generally accepted the idea that God had chosen the Jewish people as His special nation, as described in the Old Testament.

Shift in Understanding:

Over time, particularly as Christianity spread to Gentiles (non-Jews), a shift occurred in how "chosen people" was understood. Many Christian denominations began to believe that the Church, comprised of believers from all nations, was the new chosen people, fulfilling God's plan.

Replacement Theology:

This shift is often associated with the concept of replacement theology, which suggests that the Church has replaced Israel as God's chosen people.

Different Interpretations:

While some Christian denominations believe in the replacement theology, others continue to affirm that the Jewish people remain God's chosen people, albeit in a way that does not exclude the Church.

Continuing Jewish Identity:

Even within Christianity, there are groups like Messianic Judaism who maintain a strong Jewish identity while also believing in Jesus as the Messiah.

I ask the AI - was Oswald a Communist     (OccidentalEnclave)

Yes, Lee Harvey Oswald identified as a communist and displayed communist sympathies, though he did not join any specific communist party. He expressed dissatisfaction with American capitalism and tried to defect to the Soviet Union, where he sought to become a citizen.

Elaboration:

Early Interest in Communism:

Oswald began reading about communism around the age of 15 and showed a strong conviction in Marxist doctrine, even while in the Marines.

Defection to the Soviet Union:

In 1959, Oswald traveled to the Soviet Union and declared his desire to become a Soviet citizen. He stated he was a communist and wanted to live in the "Great Soviet Union," according to his diary.

Support for Cuba:

After returning to the US, Oswald's interest in communism evolved into support for Cuba and Fidel Castro.

Attempted Assassination:

In 1963, Oswald attempted to assassinate former General Edwin Walker, viewing him as a fascist and President Kennedy as representing the system he opposed.

JFK Assassination:

Oswald ultimately assassinated President John F. Kennedy in November 1963.

Lack of Party Membership:

While Oswald often identified as a communist and was influenced by communist ideology, he did not formally join any Communist Party.

I ask the AI - did Aleister Crowley believe he could perform magic     (OccidentalEnclave)
submitted by Joe_McCarthy to OccidentalEnclave 1 month ago (+2/-2)
3 comments last comment...
Yes, Aleister Crowley believed he could perform magic. He saw magic as a means to achieve personal freedom and live according to one's desires, and he attempted to blend the methodology of science with the aims of religion in his magical practice.

Elaboration:

Crowley's belief in magic stemmed from his interest in mysticism and the occult, which he explored after rebelling against his evangelical Christian upbringing.

He saw magic as a tool to achieve spiritual and physical experiences, and he believed that these experiences could be documented and tested, similar to scientific experiments, according to Wikipedia.

One example of his magical work involved a ritual performed with a companion where they both believed they were experiencing a supernatural encounter.

Crowley was a practitioner of darker magic, and his belief system was based on the idea that people have the power to be free and live according to their own desires.

He saw the practice of magic as a way to explore and experience the world, which he believed was not limited to physical reality, according to The British Library.

I ask the AI about notable hobos     (OccidentalEnclave)

Several notable figures are associated with the hobo lifestyle, including writers, musicians, and even some politicians. Notable examples include Woody Guthrie, a folk musician; Jack Kerouac, an author associated with the Beat Generation; and A-No. 1 (Leon Ray Livingston), a famous hobo and author who perfected the hobo symbol system.

Here's a more detailed look at some famous hobos:

Woody Guthrie: A prominent American folk musician known for his songs about the working class and the American West, Guthrie also experienced hoboing firsthand, influencing his music and lyrics.

Jack Kerouac: A key figure in the Beat Generation, Kerouac's novels like "On the Road" explored the hobo and wanderer lifestyle, capturing the romanticized view of the freedom and adventure associated with it.

A-No. 1 (Leon Ray Livingston): A lifelong wanderer who rode the rails and stowed away on ships, Livingston became known for his detailed knowledge of the hobo code and his books about his experiences.

Gypsy Moon (Jacqueline K. Schmidt): A key figure in hobo history and culture, Gypsy Moon collected oral histories from other hobos and became a National Queen of the Hobos.

Joseph Leon Ben-Morris Cohen Segal Lazarowitz: A Jewish hobo champion and president of the Rambling Hobo Fellowship.

Emma Bertha “Boxcar Betty” Link: A five-time hobo queen.

Hobo Ben “Coast to Coast Kid” Benson: Another notable hobo.
